About The Pear Tree Inn

The Pear Tree Inn is a recently renovated seven-bedroom guesthouse in the village of Troston, a short drive north of Bury St Edmunds, and holds an AA Gold award recognising the standard of its rooms and service. Each of its seven rooms is individually styled and named after a pear variety, from the Seckel Suite to the Concorde Suite, giving the property a distinctive, boutique character rather than the feel of a standard guesthouse.

The Pear Tree sits two doors down from its sister property, The Bull Freehouse, an award-winning pub where guests can eat and drink without needing to travel further, and in-room massage treatments are available for those wanting to make more of a stay of it. Private off-street parking and a garden add to the sense of a considered, well-run small property rather than a purely functional stopover.

Troston's rural setting means a short drive is needed to reach Bury St Edmunds itself, but the trade-off is genuine countryside quiet and a level of individual service that distinguishes the Pear Tree from larger town-centre hotels.

Wow ! - Amazing Hospitality. We arrived and checked in at The Bull Greeted by a Lovely young lady ( Sarah, I believe). Offered a lovely Glass of Prosseco, as we had booked our stay for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Shown to our Suite, Concord ! Pleasantly overwhelmed by the care and attention to showing us around our Suite ! Really Helpful - even offered to help us with our bags ! We took a Walk to Troston woods, then ventured back to the Bull for a Drink before heading back to our Suite! The Jacuzzi Bath was a hit, as well as the lovely Double Shower. Our Only piece of feedback was the Netflix/WiFi wasnt working well, but this didn't affect our stay ! Breakfast was lovely, a nice selection or pastries, fruit and cereal, with a good choice of hot food too ! Highly Recommend ! Thanks for having us !

Absolutely amazing stay. We had the Concorde suit which was stunning. Fire pit out side was a really nice touch to end our evening. The food in the pub was spectacular and can not rate it any higher. This was a mini-moon after our wedding and it was just perfect in everyway.

We had a fantastic stay in the Comice room. The room has everything you need and more. Lots of little details, and it was spotlessly clean, roomy and with stylish furnishings. The staff were all excellent and the vibe in The Bull was great. Our evening meal was exceptional. The Cotê de boeuf melted in the mouth.

This was the perfect location for an event nearby. The rooms are beautifully designed and the host was excellent. The suites would be great for a cosy couples retreat. I would definitely revisit.
