About Bardwell Manor Equestrian Centre

Tucked into the Suffolk countryside near Bury St Edmunds, Bardwell Manor Equestrian Centre offers a handful of peaceful pitches beside an orchard, with horses grazing in the surrounding fields. The riding centre welcomes both experienced equestrians keen for countryside hacks and complete beginners – lessons are available for adults and children aged five and up, though booking ahead is wise to avoid disappointment.

Not remotely interested in saddling up? You'll still find plenty to appreciate here. The site sits well back from the road, creating a genuinely tranquil spot for a Suffolk break, and the village of Ixworth is just a 20-minute walk away. With only a small number of pitches, you're guaranteed a quiet stay, and basic facilities – two showers, washing-up area, and toilet block – cover the essentials.

The setting might feel a touch rustic to some, but that's part of the charm if you're after a proper countryside escape with optional four-legged adventures.

I went for riding lessons. They gave me such a wonderful experience! I am older and had ridden Western style for a number of years and had to learn again the English style. The instructor was so very kind and a great teacher. Wonderful!

Lovely place to stay, caravan pitch in a field with electric. Very quiet, staff very friendly. Toilet and shower facilities very clean. Only one negative, the lane upto the centre was flooded after a rain storm, making it difficult to negotiate with a caravan. Definitely value for money.

Lovely site, people were friendly and there is an area to watch the horse riding. Lessons were easy to arrange and supportive staff to make you feel safe and looked after throughout. Facilties were small and so might not be the best option for those not willing to get a bit dirty whilst camping, also quite a muddy site so bring wellies. Only issue we had was sheer number of wasps hanging around our tent and making it hard to cook, but this is obviously a seasonal problem and wouldn't stop us from coming back another time of year.

Lovely, small site with beautiful views of sunset across the fields. Lovely to be around the horses and so peaceful. Large pitches with hook up available, lovely family friendly shower room. Good food pubs a short distance away. Perfect place to sit and unwind on a summer's eve.
