Buxton Camping and Caravanning Club Site
Derbyshire, Grin Low Rd, Buxton SK17 6UJ, UK
Eleven-acre club site on Grin Low, on the doorstep of Poole's Cavern
About Buxton Camping and Caravanning Club Site
The Buxton Camping and Caravanning Club Site spreads across eleven acres of wooded hillside at Ladmanlow, perched above the spa town with Buxton Country Park's beech woodland and old lime workings all around. It's that rare thing: a site close enough to walk into town for the Opera House and market in fifteen minutes, yet properly rural, with footpaths leading straight from your pitch up to Solomon's Temple and into the wider Country Park. Poole's Cavern sits practically on the doorstep.
The site takes tents, tourers, motorhomes and campervans across a mix of hardstanding and grass pitches, all with electric hookup available. A heated central toilet block provides free showers, accessible facilities and a drying room, and there's a play area for children plus a dog wash point. Dogs are welcome throughout, and barbecues are permitted on pitches.
Non-members can usually book, though joining the Camping and Caravanning Club brings discounted pitch fees. The elevated, exposed position is worth considering for shoulder-season visits when weather on the tops can turn quickly, but the trade-off is direct access to some of Derbyshire's finest walking.

Perfect getaway and a lovely site with a stunning backdrop. Great walks and beautiful countryside. I asked the wardens if the washroom facilities were recently renovated …. No they said, they were done seven years ago. Could have knocked me down with a feather as they were spotless. Tell tale sign and my bug bear …. Plug holes …. Like new ….. gleaming. Will be back … probably many times.

Lovely place to stay. It's a bit out of Buxton but not too far to walk in via footpaths. The site itself is in a beautiful location amongst the cliffs and we had a short walk up to Solomons Temple which was recommended by the staff and was well worth it - gorgeous scenery and views.

Stayed in our motorhome here. it’s an old quarry. It’s a bit more than a mile to get into central buxton but if you like a country hike then going through the country park is awesome. There is a bus from the other side of the camp but to be honest it’s a 15 minute walk to take the bus and so it’s quicker to walk through the country park. Walking up though is another matter - we took taxis !! Be aware Sunday is a day of for most taxi drivers in the area - we got lucky that an Uber guy agreed to bring us home - but it was a forty minute wait - the people running the place keep it perfectly and are very charming to chat to. We got lucky in April with three days of sunshine - even if the wind was a bit chilly!

Room was my spacious pitch with EHU for our Motorhome. In a great setting and only 1.5 mile walk to Buxton, along the country woodland path via Poole Cavern and the park. Service was the welcome and shop help with route directions to town. Location was peaceful and zero road traffic noise. Saturday evening bonus was the visiting Fish n Chips Wagon, very tasty, taking cash or card payment. Shower, toilet, laundry, washing up block is excellent and plenty of hot running water, no awkward shower button that needs constant repressing. MINUS A STAR - Waste collection only allows for glass recycling, couldn't separate metal, plastic or paper.
