About Shallow Grange Farm

Shallow Grange Farm sits just outside Chelmorton in the Peak District, offering a straightforward, dog-friendly base for exploring Derbyshire's hills and dales. The site keeps things simple but gets the essentials right: electric hook-ups are available, campfires are allowed, and there are showers, toilets and drinking water on hand. Families appreciate the relaxed, pet-welcoming vibe.

It's the kind of no-frills spot that suits campers who'd rather spend their days out on the trails than fussing over site amenities — though a few visitors note the facilities can feel a little tired in places. If you want a handy stopover for touring Buxton, Bakewell and the limestone plateau, Shallow Grange does the job without pretension.

Friendly reception. Lovely couple running the place. They’ve put a lot of effort into making a good campground. WiFi, hot showers, washer and dryer. £22 for the night for 2 people and a tent

Lovely small camping in the back field. Feels remote but isn’t really, useful facilities down the road in Buxton, supermarket and micro brewery. Excellent clean and tidy shower and wash facilities. If you get the weather the sunsets here are awesome.

I discovered shallow grange when I delivered fuel 3 years ago. The first thing that struck me was the cleanliness. My caravan hadn’t been used for 12 months. I immediately gave a deposit to Edward for the forthcoming season. We have never looked back. Edward and Marilyn are amazing and hardworking people who are proud of their achievements with this site. They do have rules which are for the benefit of everyone who stays. People want tranquility and peace, friendly and appreciative of personal space. Dogs are welcome but as you would expect from any countryside retreat they must be well behaved or restrained. There are livestock on the farm which deserve safety from harm. We have all seen the photos of sheep that have been hurt by dogs! Duke of Edinburgh kids occasionally camp here and on the whole are extremely respectful and polite young people. A pleasure to talk to about their experiences in the countryside. We shall be coming here for years to come. It is exactly what we needed. If you want nightlife go to the city, if you want to chill and chat with friendly neighbours then this is the place.

We had a wonderful camping trip here. We booked a pitch with electrical hookup, which provided us with more than enough time to make use of this. Upon arrival, we met the owners of the farm who are so warm and friendly. They gave us advice about walking in the area and about the facilities on site. The shower block and toilets, washing up, freezer and recycling areas were just minutes from our tent and the facilities are modern and clean. Would definitely come back in future.
