About The Old Manse Guest House
The Old Manse is a Victorian guest house set in a leafy, peaceful spot just a few minutes' walk from Buxton's Market Square and Opera House. Built originally as a minister's residence, the house retains high ceilings and period detailing while its rooms have been updated with a more contemporary, boutique-style finish.
The guest house is adults-only, which suits couples and travellers looking for a quiet, uninterrupted stay, and breakfast is served using local and often homemade produce. Its position combines the calm of a residential street with genuine proximity to the town's main attractions.
It suits couples on a short break, particularly those visiting for the Opera House or Buxton Festival, who want a quiet, adults-only guest house within easy walking distance of everything the town centre offers.

What guests say
What a wonderful experience at this guest house. The freshest fruit at breakfast, huge blackberries that had so much flavour, and a delightful plant based yoghurt, too. The vegan cooked breakfast was perfect, hot and not dripping in oil like some I've had in the past elsewhere. They went out of their way to cater for our needs, including providing vegan chocolate and snacks, and it really was much appreciated. We arrived during a serious heatwave, so the fan was an essential item that we found tucked away in a cupboard, thankfully, as we were in a top room and it was fairly hot to say the least! But it was just one of those unexpected things in life. The only one thing I would have changed is the brown sauce (as I am sad to say, I am somewhat of a brown sauce fanatic) as I found it to be quite an unusual taste and colour for my liking.... but I am fairly strange and I just love a good brown sauce. Thank you so much for having us!

A superb guest house just a few minutes walk up the hill from Buxton centre. A very warm welcome, well thought-out room with just the right furniture and ensuite shower. And the breakfast ... well, what more could you want!! The attention to detail at every turn was excellent.

An absolutely lovley B& B.. Wonderful hosts. A warm welcome on arrival. Free street parking. Our room was on the top floor at the rear. Nicely quiet. Very comfortable room. Bed comfortable & the bathroom towels are soft & fluffy. The pantry for fresh milks & snacks etc is a great addition to your stay. No extra charge but we were more than happy to put into a honesty box. Breakfast was superb. Served with a nice chat and smile. Yummy food. Will happily stay here again on visiting Buxton. 10 minutes walk into Buxton centre. Perfect for a Oprea House visit. Thank you to the hosts for a lovely overnight stay.

Lovely BnB run by Samantha and Stephanie, who were very welcoming and friendly, and provided top-notch service and environment to the guests. Breakfast was particularly good, serving buffet-style bar (yogurt, fruits, muesli/granola, juice, and toast) as well as different types of meals (full English, avocado on toast, scrambled eggs, etc) There’s a little pantry with snacks, water and milk as well. Around 10mins walk to Buxton train station. Highly recommended!
