Stanley Lodge Farm

We loved this site, very relaxed and plenty of space. Pitches aren't marked out and you can pretty much pitch up where ever there is space. The main field is more protected from the elements and nearer to the loos and showers, but if you brave the top field you are rewarded with amazing views and lots of peace. We weren't troubled by airplane noise or midges during our stay. The showers are basic but good enough and spacious. Lots of walks from the farm. The owners are friendly and helpful and keep a good eye on things. Pics taken from our van on the top field.

We stayed 2 nights over August Bank holiday weekend, and pitched our tent on the large second field. Although the spots around the field edge were gone, we found a level place to pitch in the middle of the field which ment we were well spaced from everyone else. The ground was even soft for our tent pegs, which was a bonus. The self-contained unisex toilet facilities were clean and chearful, although there was often a queue - a friendly bunch who often let me plus kids go in front of them. Right hand toilet & wash basin is larger than left if you have a larger gang of young'uns, and was probably missing a shelf for the bits n bobs that wouldn't hang on the pegs - but it was handy to be able to close the door and keep us all on one place til everyone was done. The showers (£1 for 10 mins) were also self-contained which would have been handy had we needed to use them, and also had a wash basin. Another small shed housed a fridge, freezer and indoor washing up area. There were also two additional portaloos in the second field to add to the capacity. The lady running the site was friendly, and the location and views were fantastic. If we stay again we'll also hire a firepit as they looked very inviting :) personally I'd prefer not to have to pay in cash as its another thing I have to remember to arrange in advance, but I'm also happy to give 100% to the campsite rather than in transaction (or commission) fees! The airplanes flying over on take-off from Manchester do take some getting used to, but it was something different for the kids.

This a working farm with adequate facilities kept in a clean condition, loads of space both on the pitches and surrounding area to walk alone or with dogs (on leads as there are cattle roaming). Jane is a lovely lady. Unobtrusive but there if you need her. Beautiful countryside, amazing sunrises and sunsets that fill the sky. Been 2 consecutive weekends and will definitely be back again.

Great place to stay! Lovely owners Great facilities. Very clean and tidy Two unisex bathrooms with sink and portaloos available at the pitch, useful for night time bathroom visit. Two clean shower areas, 10 min of hot water for £1, more than enough for a hot shower. Sink area to wash up dishes etc… Dog friendly Would recommend to stay here and will come back again.
