Stopped off in early July having walked from Hartington Station (walking/cycling trail). Great, friendly service. Ordered a Ploughman's lunch and falafal in spicy sauce on a baguette, which was promptly made and of excellent value. We were joined later by our daughter and her boyfriend who ordered the chippy tea (huge) and two starters (as a main). Would recommend! They do rooms from £40 and camping from £10.

What a fantastic country pub. Stayed for a night close by in our campervan, if known you could camp there, we would've done. The food was fantastic, could not fault what we had, apart from my partner having a bit of string left on her steak. Excellent choice of drink, warm, cosy, plenty of room, excellent menu and a good variety. Wasn't bothered about pudding, but glad we had it. Will definitely stop over with the van next time.

A typically British countryside pub. We loved our dinner here over the bank holiday weekend. The pub was busy and bustling, there was a great atmosphere. Service was excellent, food was exceptional with some really traditional, hearty dishes on the menu - exactly what you’re looking for after a long day of walking in the Peaks. Definitely worth a visit… make sure you book as it seems to be the place to be so can get busy. Can’t wait to return on our next visit to the Peak District

Recently stayed at the Royal Oak with my 4,1/2 month old puppy Freddie After being away from camping for many years , such a relief to not only find a dog friendly pub & campsite , what a great place to stay , it may not be the biggest site in Derbyshire . But it is definitely one one of the best What’s not to like , a great clean site , fabulous pub with gorgeous food & the staff are just out of this world 5 stars dont even do it justice :) Ps Facilities clean & smart as a whistle , will be back, thank you Gordon & Freddie
