About Hafod Y Llan National Trust Site

Tucked into the foothills of Yr Wyddfa, this National Trust site delivers proper mountain camping with a peaceful, scenic pitch and direct trail access - including the historic Watkin Path right from your tent door. The facilities are kept spotlessly clean, with hot showers and washing-up areas that campers consistently praise, plus fire pits available to gather round after a day on the ridges. Staff here strike the right balance of helpful and unobtrusive, creating a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.

It's a no-frills setup in the best sense - dogs are welcome, there's an on-site café for morning coffee or post-hike refuelling, and the location does the heavy lifting. If you're serious about Snowdonia walking or simply want to wake up with the peaks on your doorstep, this ticks the boxes without fuss.

Me and my two friends was met by a lovely lady called Michelle. She was very informative about the local hotspots and scenic areas. Michelle was kind and welcoming and took pride in how clean the site was. The site itself was absolutely fantastic for a peaceful stay surrounded by nature. We will definitely be coming back in July. Thank you Michelle! 😊

Such a lovely campsite! We came on a Thursday night so it wasn’t busy at all and pitched our tent in a great spot (although it started to get slightly busier towards the weekend). The campsite offers good facilities and there’s a shop in the nearby village that’s about a 5 minute drive away in case you need any bits. There’s lots of fire pits around the campsite so consider bringing your own logs if you want a fire. There’s lots of walks around and many scenic places and the campsite is directly connected to the Watkin path to Yr Wyddfa. This was such a lovely and peaceful stay and we’d love to come back here.

Such a lovely campsite. Perfect location at the base of Watkins Path. Went bank holiday weekend and even though fully booked didn't feel overcrowded at all. Good basic facilities. Nice to have fires. Highly recommend.

We had such an amazing experience at National Trust - Hafod y Llan Campsite. After a 6-hour hike and barely any sleep, me and Issy arrived exhausted with nowhere booked, expecting to be turned away because the campsite was fully booked. Thankfully, Michelle and Tom went above and beyond to help us out. They could clearly see we were struggling and welcomed us with open arms, showing genuine kindness and understanding when we really needed it most. Their accommodation and attitude completely turned our day around. The campsite itself is beautiful, peaceful, and in an incredible location, but it was the compassion and professionalism from Michelle and Tom that made this stay unforgettable. We can’t thank them enough and will definitely be returning. Absolute credit to the National Trust. Many thanks from Fynn and Izzy
