About Llyn Gwynant Campsite
Llyn Gwynant Campsite spreads across meadows on the southern shore of its namesake lake, hemmed in by the Snowdon massif to the north and the Moel Siabod ridge to the east. Pitching is informal—choose your own spot across riverside and lakeside fields when space allows—and the scenery is among the finest of any campsite in Britain. A small craft brewery with a taproom in the woods has become part of the site's character, complementing modest but well-maintained facilities: hot showers, a well-stocked shop, laundry and a food outlet. Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards are available to hire, and swimming in the lake draws most visitors at some point during their stay.
The Watkin Path up Yr Wyddfa starts a short walk along the road, offering one of the quieter and more dramatic routes to the summit. Beddgelert is five minutes by car for provisions and the Welsh Highland Railway. Being a valley floor site in one of the wetter corners of Wales, drainage can struggle after heavy rain and the ground is stony in places, so bring robust pegs. Peak weekends book out well in advance.

Had a great weekend camping here 10-12 July. It’s a big campsite with amazing views, a glorious lake, plenty of activities for everyone, well-maintained facilities & amenities, very welcoming and friendly staff. Within 2-hour’s easy drive from Liverpool. Even though they were full, still had plenty of space to set camp. Other campers were all friendly and respectful. Can be windy at night so ensure tent is well secured. Midges are common especially along the lakeside and shaded areas, bring insect repellent just in case. They sell this at the shop by reception. Their beer at the brewery is very nice, a must-try.

Had the most amazing time at the campsite. I was a solo guest and felt very safe and secure. Super close to the start of the Pyg Track/ Miners Track if you’re to hike Snowdon. The facilities on site were great, very clean and well looked after. The lake was also amazing and right on the ‘door step’. The food was fabulous too. Also super handy having a small shop on site. Felt very comforting being able to have the car right next to the tent to, made keeping everything together super easy. Really did have the most wonderful time and will 100% be coming back !!

Great campsite with gorgeous views. Great on site pizza and bar. We ate pizza and jacket spuds while we were there and also tested the brewery both nights - both were a great addition to the site. Shower, toilet and washing up facilities are pretty good, standard but well kept! Unfortunately the toilets close to our pitch only ever seemed to have one open, not sure whether this was weather related or not. We stayed on a non EHU pitch in a camper which was great, well sectioned off and good space at the side of the vehicle. Also provided with a fire pit which doesnt usually happen - price for wood, lighters etc was about £11. The location is great for visiting surrounding mountains and waterfalls. We would return in the future to use the lake and sightsee but we were there during storm Dave so didnt get chance to do much this time!

Fantastic family campsite - great facilities. Wardens doing patrols at night to remind people to keep noise down (no speakers on site). Pizza and pints on site and renting paddle boards/canoes a doddle. (Not a place for loud beers around a fire with no regard to others.)
