About Howfield Manor Hotel
Canterbury's cathedral and lanes are a short drive from Howfield Manor Hotel, a 15-room property set back on Howfield Lane amid the surrounding Kent countryside. It makes a quiet base for exploring the city without staying in the thick of it, with free on-site parking removing the usual hassle of visiting a historic centre by car.
Rooms at Howfield Manor are traditional and kept simple rather than dressed up, with free WiFi and air conditioning included throughout. The heart of the hotel is its beamed dining room, where a restaurant serves French and British dishes, and breakfast is included to set guests up for a day out. A garden gives extra space to sit outside, and luggage storage is available for those breaking up a longer trip.
Beyond the cathedral itself, the wider Kent countryside offers plenty for guests to explore, making Howfield Manor a practical spot for combining city sightseeing with a slower, rural pace in the evenings.

Beautiful Father’s Day lunch, in the beautiful gardens of Howfield manor. Lovely fantastic service with beautiful food. Friendly and clean environment and the food was so so tasty. I do believe this is one of the best places to eat, especially to a roast. definitely deserves to be more busier, I hope people attend more and check it out! X

We recently visited Howfield Manor for afternoon tea and it was absolutely lovely. The setting is beautiful, the atmosphere is calm and welcoming and the team couldn’t have been more attentive. It really is a little hidden gem. With the gardens and grounds, it’s the ideal spot for drinks or lunch in the summer too. And if you didn’t already know they also host weddings and events, which makes perfect sense given how charming the venue is. Thank you for our afternoon tea.

Went for afternoon tea - 9 adults and 2 baby/toddlers - it was a magical experience with a lovely decorated table with crackers , plenty of tea and an astonishing number of sandwiches, both meat and vegetarian , all very well made - in fact we voted the sandwiches the best we had ever had at an afternoon tea - there were large numbers of scones and cakes - we took 6 boxes home !! All of it was well presented , the staff were lovely and all our party thoroughly enjoyed it . A hidden gem , in our opinion - and well worth a return journey - our party included visitors from Dubai and Germany and they will go home with some very good memories - try it , you won’t be disappointed . As to costs - less than £30 per adult seemed very fair .
