Fifteen rooms above a traditional Kent pub, with hearty Ploughman's lunches and a garden for lingering, on The Street in Canterbury.
About Woolpack Inn
A Ploughman's lunch generous enough to be remembered is one of the small pleasures at the Woolpack Inn, a fifteen-room pub hotel on The Street in Canterbury. The building leans into its traditional pub character, with a restaurant serving hearty breakfasts alongside classic fare, and a garden that gives guests somewhere to sit outside the dining room.
Rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, and the atmosphere throughout is cosy and welcoming rather than corporate. Staff are friendly and attentive, though service at busier times can be on the slower side. Beyond the restaurant, the hotel offers a spa and sauna, meeting rooms, concierge services, free WiFi, 24 hour reception and free on-site parking, and pets are welcome.
The location on The Street puts guests within reach of Canterbury's wider attractions, making the Woolpack Inn a practical base for exploring the city and the surrounding Kent countryside.

Most dog-friendly hotel we’ve ever stayed in, which makes sense as it’s a popular stop for walkers on the Pilgrims’ Way. Chilham itself is a very picturesque village, complete with its own castle up the street (although not quite a castle as we know it, coming from North Wales... 😄). The room was beautifully furnished and very well equipped, although very warm at night. A fan was provided, but I think the hot water pipes run beneath the Chapel Down room, so sleep was a little uncomfortable. Worth taking an eye mask in summer too — the shutters look lovely but don’t keep much light out. The pub itself is gorgeous, full maximalist country pub styling done really well. Great support for English wines too, with lots of local vineyards represented. Nice touches throughout, including complimentary cakes between 4–5pm and a thoughtful local itinerary in the room. Food portions were enormous and the quality was excellent. Accessible by train. Handy for le Shuttle. Parking was easy, Wallace the resident dog was very attentive to guests, and everyone we met locally was genuinely friendly. The White Horse further down the street is also worth a visit. Would definitely stay again and would happily try the other sister hotels off the back of this stay.

This is for the Woolpack Pub restaurant which we came across after our hiking in the picturesque Chilham village. I took the caesar’s salad which was really delicious, a generous portion, had tasty parmesan cheese and crispy lettuce as well as soft and tasty chicken pieces. It was so generous I left some for my friend. My friend got two ales, one was shepherd neame which was great. The decoration was thoughtful, had luxurious seats and furniture and relaxed ambience and music. The staff was friendly and kind and the service was excellent. The noise was low and the feel so relaxing and peaceful. The outside area is aesthetically pleasant adorned with red and pink roses. We will definitely revisit this stunning place.

Stayed for a couple of nights in May. The staff were great, very friendly. I stayed in the Domaine Evremond room and it was one of the best sleeps I've had in a hotel. Very clean and great character. Food was delicious, especially the evening menu. The only criticism I have is with the breakfast. The beans were a little on the cold side. Other than that, I couldn't fault it. Would highly recommend.

What a beautiful Sunday experience! 100% recommend :) The staff are an absolute asset to the company! so polite, helpful and accommodating ♡ We come in for a morning coffee and a a breakfast and ended up booking for a roast dinner and got recommend and lovely river walk (we had the four dogs with us) The roast dinner was exceptional (we had the lamb) so hugh credit to the chefs! The decor and pub itself was absolutely stunning and the food and drinks menu was well thought out also. Please pass on a very big thank you once again to the staff and the chef for a lovely service x
