Acorn Camping and Caravanning

Heritage Coast site near Llantwit Major, about 15 miles west of Cardiff

About Acorn Camping and Caravanning

Acorn Camping and Caravanning occupies a series of level, hedged fields on Rosedew Farm, roughly a mile inland from Llantwit Major and the limestone cliffs of the Heritage Coast. The layout is straightforward—around seventy-eight pitches in total, most with electric hook-up, a mix of grass for tents and gravel hardstandings for larger units. Facilities include heated showers and toilets, laundry, a small shop for essentials, and a children's play area. The licensed, dog-friendly café is a useful fallback when the weather closes in, though the site itself can feel a touch workmanlike rather than picturesque.

The location works well for families wanting both coast and city. Cardiff is half an hour up the A48, the Wales Coast Path is walkable, and the castle ruins at Ogmore and the dunes at Merthyr Mawr are close enough for easy day trips. Dogs are welcome throughout, and the farm lanes offer quiet walks. Llantwit Major's railway station connects directly to Cardiff Central, so a car isn't strictly necessary once you've arrived. Shepherd's huts on the farm provide a glamping alternative for those who'd rather skip the tent pegs.

Super friendly site. Great location for the coastpath and village. On site cafe/restaurant popular with locals, we didn't get to experience the food, however the place is clean and attractive.

We had a lovely stay in the grey shepherds hut this weekend as we were attending a wedding nearby. The staff were lovely, allowed us an early check-in and got the hut warming up for when we got back that evening. Close by to the shower (hot and powerful) and toilet block and the bed was really comfortable. A delicious breakfast this morning at the on-site café before check-out. Would recommend.

First time here. Great flat pitch. Near to the beach and the country side is lovely. Good warm showers . Very clean. Great little shop and a fantastic cafe with a cracking good English breakfast. Very near to the town and train station. Will be back.
