Cardiff is a compact county, so most campsites and glamping bases sit just outside the city itself, leaving the centre and its castle, museums and stadium a short drive away. Cardiff Caravan Park and Cardiff Caravan and Camping Park both keep you close to the action, useful if you want city evenings without paying city hotel prices.
Further out, the pace slows considerably. Garth Glamping and Lodge on a Lake suit couples or families wanting a quieter setting with a bit more comfort than a standard pitch, while Vishwell Farm Caravan Site, Acorn Camping and Caravanning and Llandow Touring Caravan Park cater well to those touring with their own caravan or tent. Forest Garden Camp Spot leans towards a more wooded, back-to-basics feel.
Choosing between them comes down to whether you want to be within walking distance of Cardiff's attractions or happy to drive in, and whether you're bringing your own kit or after a ready-made glamping stay.
