Myddfai sits within the Brecon Beacons, surrounded by countryside worth exploring on foot or by bike. The village church stands across from The Old Post Office, and the Myddfai Community Hall & Visitor Centre provides local information. Walks into the hills begin from the doorstep; higher peaks and longer routes are a short drive away.
This Grade II listed building dates from the mid-19th century and retains its original post office shop front with stained-glass panels—the small post box is still embedded in the wall. The ground floor contains a living room with electric wood burner, a kitchen and dining area, a sun room, and a study with games consoles. Upstairs are four bedrooms: one kingsize, a second kingsize, two singles, and a three-quarter double. Two bathrooms and a shower room meet the needs of eight guests. An external utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. The enclosed lawned garden has patio furniture and a BBQ; bikes can be stored on site. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are covered. One dog is welcome at no extra cost. The house is yours alone for the duration of your stay, with no smoking indoors.

Absolutely gorgeous home in beautiful surroundings. Deceptively large, the post office is well equipped and well cared for. The garden is beautiful and a wonderful space to be in, with expansive views on the Welsh hills. We greatly enjoyed our visit. It’s rural and quiet, but the lovely Llandovery being just down the road was perfect. A great little town to have close to hand for supplies. We enjoyed trips to nearby castles and woodlands, saw plentiful Red Kites, and dove into the history of Myddfai. A real treat for those that enjoy the great outdoors and historical sites. We will absolutely be returning to The Old Post office. We stayed with our toddler and it was a perfect family getaway. Spacious, well stocked and comfortable for lots of visitors. Would recommend to any family.

Very spacious cottage with comfy beds and settees. My only dislike was the cottage was in need of a Spring clean. Myddfai is a quiet village set in beautiful surroundings on the edge of the spectacular Brecon Beacons. 3 miles from small town Llandovery which has shops and eateries. Lovely area for walkers.
