Ffynnonmeredydd Cottages - Tan Y Dderwen

Ceredigion

Photo: Google Maps

Tan Y Dderwen sits within extensive grounds in rural Ceredigion, surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The property is a converted Welsh long barn, one of several on this tranquil working estate. Aberaeron, a Georgian harbour town with independent shops and restaurants, lies six miles away; inland, the villages of Lampeter and Tregaron offer a stronger sense of traditional Welsh culture and language. The Cors Caron nature reserve—home to rare plants, adders, buzzards and occasionally red kites—is within easy reach for walks.

Everything is on the ground floor: a double bedroom, a twin room, and a shower room, sleeping four in total. The open-plan living space includes a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, a dining area, and a sitting room with television and music. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; wifi keeps you connected. The patio has garden furniture and a barbecue, and your private hot tub is yours alone to use.

The 24-acre grounds include a tennis court and children's play area, though three unfenced lakes mean families with very young children need to supervise carefully. One dog is welcome. The cottage suits couples, small families or friends seeking countryside space without the drive to more remote parts of Wales; the coast and traditional market towns are genuinely nearby rather than hours away.
