Ceredigion

The Ceredigion coastline near Aberystwyth draws families and groups seeking both seaside access and countryside quiet. Haul Y Bore sits in this setting as a substantial house across three floors, sleeping nine across four bedrooms and three bathrooms. One well-behaved dog stays free.

The layout spreads across lower ground, ground and first floors. Downstairs you'll find two living spaces—one with a balcony overlooking the garden, the other doubling as a games room with pool table—plus a dining room and fully fitted kitchen with electric cooking, dishwasher and wine cooler. Upstairs are the four bedrooms: two with en-suite showers, the others sharing a family bathroom with bath and shower. Beds range from a zip-and-link super king to doubles and singles, with Smart TVs in each room. The back garden has a six-person hot tub, barbecue, seating area and room for dogs to move about freely. Parking for three cars and Wi-Fi throughout are included, along with bed linen and towels. No smoking indoors.

Llanilar Village Shop is nearby for essentials. The property suits groups of friends or extended families wanting separate sleeping areas and communal space, whether planning seaside days or using the house as a base for exploring the coast and hills beyond.

Booked a couple of months ago for 9 adults to stay on New Year’s Eve 2025. Received a phone call today 2 days before by Mr Davies the owner to say that we couldn’t stay at the property because the people staying there wanted to extend their stay, but he had 5 hotel rooms at the four seasons hotel in Aberystwyth that we could stay in. Surely he should have declined the guests extension as he already had a booking that was paid for. Me and my friends had already bought the food that we were going to prepare for our New Year’s meal!! We declined Mr Davies offer which I am very glad of because looking at reviews cancellations and being pushed towards the Four Seasons Hotel seems to be a regular occurrence with this owner when Haul Y Bore is booked. As you can imagine to have your plans stopped for New Year’s Eve 2 days before really isn’t good but I think we have had a lucky escape in all honesty.

Nearly there, just needs a few tweaks! This house sleeps 11 across 5 bedrooms and has 4 bathrooms. But the dining table only seats 8 and the lounge seats 6 or 7. Big driveway for lots of cars. The hot tub is huge, is at a hot 40 degrees all the time (you can't change that,) and is under cover but you have to walk on the ground to get to it, no mats or deck, just paving/concrete with muddy leaves on. So then your mucky feet put bits in the hot tub water. Bring sliders or flipflops! There's no doormat in the hall either so leave your shoes outside. Beds are soft and squeaky but there's lots of them. There's no hand towels but lots of bath towels. Soap, shower gel and washing up liquid provided. Only 2 dishwasher tablets, one teatowel and no detergent for the washing machine so bring all that. The kitchen needs a chopping board, baking trays, new cutlery, a draining rack and more glasses but otherwise is good. Don't wait for the key safe code message - they don't send it, they just leave the key under a plant pot. Outside, there is a building site next door so children can't play unsupervised but there is a stream at the bottom of the garden too so they'll need supervising anyway. Heating is excellent, it's a warm house apart from the lounge. Location is good to get to local attractions. 10am checkout and 4pm check in seems extreme but it's a big house to clean plus the hot tub to clean, refill and heat every time.

This holiday home exceeded our expectations. As a party of 6 adults and a chilled boxer we hired haul y bore over Christmas, the kitchen was great and fully equipped to cook our festive food. Hot tub was a welcome bonus, although the area where it was housed could have been made more of a feature. The beds were very comfortable, we really couldn’t fault the place. An absolute gem and we all agreed we would visit again.

AVOID!! I booked this cottage for New Years eve for me and the mrs months in advance. We specifically chose the property due to it having a hot tub and I made sure to ask if it was operational etc when I booked to which they said yes it was working fine. There was no communication from the property in the lead up to the date, I had to ring them up the day before to ask where the keys were going to be and is it all in order etc etc, all seemed okay at that point. The property itself was a 3 hour drive away so we were just about to set off on our journey and we got a phone call saying that there was a leak in the property and that we were unable to stay there. Bear in mind this was just 2 hours before check in time and on New Years eve! I said that we didn't mind waiting an hour to set off to give them 4 hours to fix the issue but they were adamant that we couldn't stay there and offered us a hotel room instead to which we declined. If there was a leak at the property why wait until 2 hours before we were meant to check in to tell us and on New Years eve too. Really poor service throughout the whole process, would advise people to avoid and would advise them to get their act together as Ive now seen similar reviews.
