About Stow-on-the-Wold Rugby Club

Set on sporting pitches just outside historic Stow-on-the-Wold, this Rugby Club campsite delivers seriously eye-catching views across the Cotswold Hills. From the hilltop grass and hardstanding pitches, walkers can strike out for miles on local footpaths without going near a road, making it a cracking base for cyclists and ramblers alike. The location is fab for Cotswolds touring – Naunton Downs Golf Club sits 10 minutes away, while a bus from nearby Oddington village whisks you to Stratford-upon-Avon (40 minutes) or Oxford (55 minutes) if you fancy leaving the vehicle behind.

Facilities are simple but sufficient: showers, toilets, washing-up areas and wifi around the clubhouse. The site welcomes tents, tourers (both electric and non-electric), rallies, campfires and dogs year-round. Stow itself (five minutes' drive) offers cafés, bars and basics, though Moreton-in-Marsh (15 minutes) has better supermarkets, indie shops and a mainline station to London. Perfect for families after a peaceful, wildlife-rich pitch with spectacular scenery and space to roam.

We just returned from a 2 night stay. We were greeted by a lovely man who appears to do some groundworks or general maintenance. He was well informed, warm and friendly. We had a grass pitch and although uneven our standard kit was able to rectify. We used the camping portacabin for showering although we had a shower in our van. They were clean amd private.. a cubicle within a cubicle. Would certainly stay again, after enjoying a lovely afternoon amongst the rubgy locals in the club house. Really no complaints just does what it says on the tin. Nice views, water/electric. Local amenties just a mile or so away. Including pubs, restaurants, takeaway

Stayed for 2 nights here and had a lovely stay. Great location for walks, and a lovely nearby town with lots of pubs to choose from. Toilets were clean, showers were warm and had private cubicles with space to hang clothes and change. On-site bar area that serves food/drinks if you wanted it, and you could preorder breakfast. Met a lovely lady who we think was the owner but didn't catch her name. She was really accommodating, gave us lots of tips and even very kindly gave us a bottle of ketchup to go with our meal. Its not luxury, just a basic campsite, but has everything you need if that's what you're after.

The only good things about this campsite are the view and the location. Both things it didn't arrange itself. Oh and Terri if you catch her. It is basically a rugby club that wants to make some extra money. There is no love, nor attention. Festival toilets, no privacy in the showers, neglected and worn playground. All mentioned before. There is (almost) no reception, everything is through pitch up. Too anonymous for me, especially if you just drive up there. Almost I say, since we were lucky to meet Terri. Who was indeed friendly, but you wouldn't know when she was in. We met more than one lost camper in our 2 night stay. When would this be OK for you? If you just need a place for the night, have your own facilities, are with a lot, since there is lots of space. However everything mentioned above should be reflected in the price.

Camped here over the weekend and we were luck enough to see the northern lights. We were luck to pretty much have the whole field to ourselves and there is a paddock near by that is great for walking the dogs. The shower block and toilets were nice and were really clean. Only downside is the tent area is on a bit of a slant and there's very few flat areas.
