Chichester Harbour and the South Downs are both within reach of The Stables, a converted barn on a working farm between West Wittering's beach and the historic city of Chichester. Fontwell Park racecourse is nearby, and Goodwood hosts motorsport events through the year. Boat hire, water sports tuition, and coastal walks are minutes away; Bosham village and its picturesque harbour are accessible by foot ferry from Itchenor.

The cottage sits on 36 acres of fields and natural walking ground, with a private garden and patio opening onto the countryside. Inside, everything is on the ground floor: a living room with smart TV, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, two bedrooms (one with a super king bed and ensuite, one with zip-and-link single beds and ensuite), and central heating throughout. Bed linen, towels and wifi are included. One dog can stay with you. Parking is provided for two cars, and there's a bike store if you've brought one.

The farmyard setting means an unfenced pond sits about 100 yards from the property. No smoking inside. Check-in is after 3pm, checkout before 10am.

Had a lovely impromptu dinner on the way to Arundel. The appetizers exceeded our expectations, especially the baked scallops. The pie of the day was fresh, but I'm so glad we saved room for dessert because the sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Emily our server was lovely and very attentive. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

We visited for dinner last weekend and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and arrived promptly despite the pub being fairly busy. A special mention has to go to Fay, who looked after us throughout the evening. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, and her excellent service really made our visit stand out. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We'll definitely be returning and would happily recommend this pub to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service. Thank you, Fay, and the whole team for a wonderful evening!

My visit started well; friendly greeting and quick service. The food was good, very generous starter portions and the beef shin was rich and tasty (not very photogenic but it tasted nice). Very good standard for pub grub. Unfortunately halfway through our meal a group of 8-10 men arrived and proceeded to shout and swear extremely loudly. And I mean loudly. The place was quiet until this point (Friday lunchtime) with only a few older people and one family with a young child. I hoped the manager would have asked them to at least keep the language more appropriate with a child being metres away - and if me or another customer had approached them you can imagine how that would have went. I get it's a pub but if you're serving families during the daytime a duty manager should be prepared to step in if people are literally shouting F words every other word. So the visit was majorly spoilt for us, which is a big shame and disappointing.

Our first time eating here and it was a really lovely experience from start to finish. I had the fish and chips which were superb, perfectly cooked and full of flavour (amazing batter) -easily some of the best I’ve had in a long time. My friend chose the hunters chicken and really enjoyed it. The service was excellent throughout, friendly, attentive and welcoming. It’s a lovely pub with a warm atmosphere that makes you want to relax and stay a while. We both left very happy and are already looking forward to coming back again soon.
