I celebrated my 50th birthday at Locksters Pool - hiring out the private upper Locksters area for a large group for the bank holiday weekend. Right from the start Richard and Yvonne went far above and beyond to work with me to ensure me and my guests had a great weekend. They accommodated and supported Marquee setup, a visiting local food truck - The Hungry farmer (v good) and arranged canoe hire for our group trip down from Hay to Locksters with a stop at the Boat Inn Not only is the setting truly beautiful- the photos do not do it justice but it was a very well run site. The toilets are basic but very clean and well managed and with a good shower block. I hunted high and low to find a site for a large group for private hire and Locksters Pool truly excelled. Would highly highly recommend and thankyou for helping me have an amazing weekend.

Can't recommend this campsite enough. My friend and I paddleboarded from Hay on Wye and had an amazing stay. The hosts are lovely, the facilities are basic but all you need and the wildlife is stunning. We saw nesting Sand Martins, Deer, Rabbits, Black Kites and Kingfishers. The views aren't half bad either.

Hands down the best hosts I’ve come across. Yvonne and Richard have created a relaxed and welcoming campsite which runs like clockwork. The bathrooms are cleaned every 3 hours, there are good hot showers (requires a pound coin), there is a fridge and a washing up station. Myself and several people forgot tent pegs (always check the bag!) but Yvonne and Richard had a bag ready. This experience paired with the beautiful scenery overlooking the wye makes this an incredible spot for camping. Highly recommend.

You honestly won’t find a better campsite or more welcoming owners than this. The hosts are incredibly friendly and make setting up straightforward from the start. The location is immaculate—beautifully maintained grounds right by the River Wye. From the site, you can paddleboard straight onto the river, or take a short drive into town and float back down to your tent. The facilities are excellent: spotless, well-managed portaloos, hot showers, and secure charging ports with lockers. Fire pits are already prepared next to your tent, and firewood is available on request—such a thoughtful touch. For the price per night, the value is unbeatable. Between the setting, the facilities, and the warm welcome, this place truly sets the standard for camping.
