About Black Mountain View Caravan Park
Books, Black Mountains, Welsh walks and Wye fishing converge around this small, family-run caravan park on an organic smallholding, just a mile and a half from Hay-on-Wye. Run by James and his team – regularly praised as friendly, attentive and delightful – the site sits on the Powys/Herefordshire border with excellent main-road access, yet remains remarkably peaceful. Those promised mountain views deliver handsomely, especially if you tackle the 40-minute riverside walk along Offa's Dyke Path into Hay itself.
The facilities are refreshingly straightforward: a recently built toilet and shower block with family and disabled rooms, plus the essentials like ice-pack freezing and washing-up areas. Bring your fishing licence to try for barbel and chub in the Wye next door, or venture further for pony treks, canoe paddles and bike rides through the surrounding valleys. It's a relaxed, unpretentious base for Brecon Beacons exploration, with that rare combination of easy logistics and genuinely spectacular scenery.

We came to stay in our motorhome. Lovely, clean site. We was welcomed up on arriving with really friendly chaps who helped out and gave us the tour. Beautiful views and very close to the towns and shops. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. All in all a great experience.

Easy to find, and a very friendly welcome by the owner James. Pitches were level and spacious, all with electric hook up and water avai, plus a beautiful view across the Wye to the black mountain's. James gave us a tour of the site, which he is rightly very proud of,and then explained the lovely walking route into Hay. This was the highlight of our stay, finished by a first for both of us,the clear sighting of a woodpecker busy in the woods All in all a great stay, thanks James.

Fantastic site, neat and tidy with 5* facilities. James the owner is very attentive and helpful. A 45 minute walk into Hay on Wye through fields and besides the river Wye. The views from pitch are brilliant, each pitch is slightly set back so your views are not interrupted by your neighbour.
