About Colchester Country Park
Tucked into woodland near Lexden, Colchester Country Park makes a practical base for exploring this historic Essex town, with spotless shower blocks and facilities that reviewers consistently praise. The friendly team keep things running smoothly, and there's a handy pub within walking distance—plus excellent value for money. Dogs are welcome year-round, and you'll find both grass and hardstanding electric pitches, plus useful touches like motorhome service points and tourer storage.
The wooded setting attracts plenty of wildlife, though the trade-off is some persistent road noise that can carry through the trees. Still, with Colchester's Roman walls, castle and independent shops just a short hop away, it's a solid, no-fuss choice for tourers wanting comfort and convenience without the frills.

What visitors say
Roughly 2 miles from the city centre, it's ideal for visiting Colchester. We received an extremely warm welcome from the staff when we arrived and were shown to our pitch as well. There is fairly constant noise from the nearby road, this dies down at night and as we spent a lots of time out and about, it wasn't really a problem. There are 2 shower blocks, one of which is push button operated and the other a traditional twist switch. They were both a little bit tired looking, but we're both clean, with plenty of hot water. Sadly, the WiFi wasn't working when we visited and the reception for O2 was patchy at best. The bus stop is only a few minutes walk away with buses running regularly into Colchester. Just over the road from the bus stop is a lovely woodland walk with a duck pond as well. If you want a quiet rural setting, this isn't for you. But, if you want a decent, reasonably priced campsite with friendly staff, then give it a go.

This is not a holiday touring site although the corporate blurb will tell you otherwise. This is a commercial site with lots of commercial work vans advertising their trades like tiling, despite the owner information saying absolutely no commercial vehicles. It is also alongside the very noisy A12 so not peaceful. It is however within easy reach by foot or bus of the centre of Colchester and that can only be the reason for staying here as a holidaymaker!

Lovely place to stay, close enough to the town. Perfect location for a beautiful stay and visit to a lovely town. Excellent value for money, excellent facilities, highly recommended. Best staff, always available to help with anything you require, p.s cleanest toilet block I’ve seen!

Stayed with a motorhome. There is some road noise from the adjacent A road, but the site is clean and well laid out. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Made use of the disabled toilet and shower facilities which were newly refurbished and very well serviced. Charges were reasonable at £35 for one night. We would use this site again.
