Crafnant Lake lies within easy reach on foot, and from there you can walk through to Geirionydd Lake where kayaks and paddle boards are available for hire. Fairy Falls Waterfall is nearby. The area around Trefriw forms part of Snowdonia National Park and serves as a genuine walker's paradise, with routes in all directions and colour-coded mountain bike trails for varying abilities. The village itself has a post office, butcher and pubs, plus a working woollen mill powered by water from Crafnant Lake.

Yr Hafod sleeps 8 across four bedrooms, each with its own shower room. Two rooms have a pair of single beds; two have doubles. All four open onto balconies with views of the surrounding landscape.
