About Cornish Tipi Holidays
Tucked into a peaceful woodland valley near Polzeath on Cornwall's north coast, this magical site has been enchanting campers since 1997. Owned by Elizabeth, whose family has farmed this land for 11 generations, Cornish Tipi Holidays offers a genuinely wild camping experience with secluded pitches scattered among the trees, each with its own standpipe, picnic table and fire pit. The beautiful lake is perfect for kayaking, wild swimming or trying your hand at fishing – and there's nothing quite like cooking your catch over an open fire.
The on-site café serves delicious food with excellent vegan and gluten-free options, while the clean composting facilities and renewable energy reflect a thoughtful approach to the landscape. Families adore the freedom and adventure here, though the remote, romantic setting has apparently inspired at least one proposal every year. With surf beaches, coastal walks and cycle routes all nearby, it's a wildly special base for exploring north Cornwall – just remember the marshmallows for those campfires.

What visitors say
We booked Cornish tipi holidays as our ‘nicest campsite’ to finish off a 10 camping trip. Everything looked appealing from the lake to the wooden shower huts and the scenery. Don’t get me wrong the scenery is amazing but that’s about it. The showers back onto the compost toilet, luckily for us we stayed during a cold period but in the heat I imagine that smell runs through the whole campsite. There is flushing toilets however they are abit of a walk into the woods which is not ideal. There is no hot water for washing your pots with. The staff told me that people typically boil their own water to wash pots with. Same goes for the handwashing sink after using the compost toilet. Not great really. We did have hot water in the showers but other reviews state they didn’t so I’m not too sure if it’s abit temperamental. There was no lights in the shower or the toilet so if you needed a wee after dark, take a lantern. Upon our arrival to the campsite, no one was there to check us in or tell us where we were going, which would be okay if the site was well signposted. It took us 15 minutes to find reception in the first place. We paid £50 a night for this site and was supposed to be there for 3 days however ended up leaving after the first day. The lake was beautiful, I imagine in summer it would be lovely to take one of the boats out or even just have a swim around. But that’s seems to be their only selling point. For the price of this site, so much more could be done with it if a little bit of effort was put into the facilities and signposting. It’s a shame because the location is amazing. We pitched up on the camper van pitch which was just a small field with hedges. I imagine during a busy period this field could get abit cramped. This is from a camping perspective, not the tipi perspective so I can’t really comment on that.

Great campsite with access to a flooded quarry and free rowing boats/kayaks which was a life saver in the heat. They also have food and drinks available in the mornings and evenings with great vegan/GF options.

My favorite place to come back to. Expensive for a camping, but totally worth it as it's secluded, there's fire pit, bench in every spot, amazing shower experience and compost loos, lovely lake, boats free of charge and fishing opportunity ❤️ makes for a great memories
