Higher Trewithen Holiday Cottages - The Nook

Photo: Higher Trewithen Holiday Cottages

Couples and small families will find The Nook suits a quiet break away from it all. This single-bedroom cottage sits on the ground floor of Higher Trewithen, a collection of seven holiday properties spread across four acres of gardens, pastures and woodland on an early medieval farmstead. You have the whole place to yourself, with parking for two cars and direct access to shared grounds that include a children's play area and barbecue area.

Inside, there is a living and dining room with Freeview Smart TV, a kitchen fitted with electric cooker, hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine, a bedroom with a zip-and-link super king bed (or two singles on request), and a bathroom with bath and shower over. Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. One dog is welcome and should be kept on a lead. A travel cot and highchair can be hired if you need them.

The Nook sits just two miles from Kennal Vale Nature Reserve, a former gunpowder factory now home to native plants and wildlife. Stithians Lake, five miles away, has a circular walking route and offers water sports. From here you can reach Cornish beaches and coves within a short drive, making it a practical base for exploring the county. Note that the property has a shallow step at the entrance, and Wi-Fi speeds cannot be guaranteed due to the rural location.

This is a lovely, restful cottage managed by a friendly couple. While it isn't located on a beach it isn't far away. Would recommend having a car to stay here. Nice facilities and love the animals nearby. The chickens located next door are free ranging and swing by to say hi on a regular basis. You can take a short walk across to see the horses and sheep. Eco conscious and a lovely relaxing vibe.

Our family have just spent a week in The Barn, really lovely accommodation and Simon and Maria are so welcoming, very helpful with advice and local knowledge. Location wise we were only 20/25 minutes from either coast and 45 mins from Lands End, ideal for access to the whole area. It was actually lovely to spend the day in the tourist spots then come back to the peace and quiet of the farm! Also would like to give 5 stars to the online welcome booklet emailed prior to our arrival. Full of all information you could need about the accommodation, local area, checking in and out, beaches, eating out, pretty much everything you could want! Extremely helpful to us when deciding where to visit!

Simon and Maria were lovely hosts. Their holiday cottages are very comfortable and well equipped, particularly the kitchen. Wifi was great too! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with my dog Spencer. Maria even gave me a special towel for my Spencer! :-)

Had an excellent 4 Generation Family break for 6 nights. Renting 3 different properties. All Very clean & comfortable, with no complaints or issues whatsoever. Would highly recommend for a relaxed break. location is slightly remote, but not a problem as it's so central to all the coastal landmarks & attractions within a 30 minute drive. Would return without hesitation
