Higher Trewithen Holiday Cottages - The Stable

Photo: Higher Trewithen Holiday Cottages

Two miles from Kennal Vale Nature Reserve and its medieval gunpowder works, The Stable sits on a working farm where 4 acres of woodland, pasture and gardens connect seven holiday properties. Kennal Vale itself is now habitat for native plants and wildlife; walking trails thread through the site. The surrounding countryside holds beaches, coves and water sports within short driving distance, alongside quieter gardens and footpaths for those who prefer to stay closer.

The Stable is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom conversion sleeping four. Ground floor holds the living and dining space with Freeview TV, DVD and CD players, plus a kitchen equipped for proper cooking: electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine. Upstairs, one bedroom has a zip-and-link super king (or two singles on request); the other contains two 3ft single beds. The bathroom includes a bath with shower over and a separate toilet. One dog is welcome, kept on a lead within the farm. You have private parking for two cars and the run of shared grounds that include a barbecue and children's play area. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered; note that rural location means wi-fi speeds cannot be guaranteed. No smoking. Check-in is after 16:30 and departure before 09:30.

This is a lovely, restful cottage managed by a friendly couple. While it isn't located on a beach it isn't far away. Would recommend having a car to stay here. Nice facilities and love the animals nearby. The chickens located next door are free ranging and swing by to say hi on a regular basis. You can take a short walk across to see the horses and sheep. Eco conscious and a lovely relaxing vibe.

Our family have just spent a week in The Barn, really lovely accommodation and Simon and Maria are so welcoming, very helpful with advice and local knowledge. Location wise we were only 20/25 minutes from either coast and 45 mins from Lands End, ideal for access to the whole area. It was actually lovely to spend the day in the tourist spots then come back to the peace and quiet of the farm! Also would like to give 5 stars to the online welcome booklet emailed prior to our arrival. Full of all information you could need about the accommodation, local area, checking in and out, beaches, eating out, pretty much everything you could want! Extremely helpful to us when deciding where to visit!

Simon and Maria were lovely hosts. Their holiday cottages are very comfortable and well equipped, particularly the kitchen. Wifi was great too! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with my dog Spencer. Maria even gave me a special towel for my Spencer! :-)

Had an excellent 4 Generation Family break for 6 nights. Renting 3 different properties. All Very clean & comfortable, with no complaints or issues whatsoever. Would highly recommend for a relaxed break. location is slightly remote, but not a problem as it's so central to all the coastal landmarks & attractions within a 30 minute drive. Would return without hesitation
