Kilbol Country Cottages - Bluebell

Photo: Paul Siddall

Bluebell is a one-bedroom terrace cottage on a single storey, positioned in the grounds of the owner's home near Mevagissey. Everything is at ground level: a combined living and dining space, a kitchen with electric cooking and a dishwasher, a kingsize bedroom, and a bathroom with bath and shower. Parking for one car is on-site, and there's an electric charging point shared with neighbouring properties.

The cottage sits within a large shared garden looking out over surrounding fields, with seating areas and a bike store. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. The water comes from a bore hole; there is an unfenced stream approximately 30 yards into the garden. No smoking is permitted, and the property is for adults only.

Mevagissey itself—a working fishing village with a harbour, independent cafés and pubs—is a short drive away. St Ewe village and its pub are closer still. The coastal landscape here includes coves with sandy beaches backed by cliffs; further afield are Caerhays Castle and Porthluney Beach. This location suits couples wanting quiet countryside without being remote from the Cornish coast and its attractions.

So after a 7.5hr drive we arrived to find that the owners had put the room light on and the heating. It was toasty warm.. We had a welcome gift of bread, butter, milk, eggs and jam (which helped because nothing was open at 1.30am) After a really good night's sleep on probably the most comfy bed ever we read the cottage guide, it was most helpful as it had the WiFi details and a list of supermarkets etc. Spending the week there was bliss so quiet.. Definitely worth going for couples wanting to get away from the city.. The beach was about 5 miles away so a car is needed... Going to book again for next year hopefully...
