Portscatho sits on the Roseland Peninsula with the South West Coastal Path running through the village, opening up miles of clifftop walking and dramatic seascapes. Lan-Y-Mor occupies a quiet cul-de-sac position close to the village square and its local amenities, with Gerrans Bay visible from the upper floors.
The house spreads across three storeys. Upstairs, a light living room has patio doors onto a balcony overlooking the village and bay, with Freeview TV and CD player. The kitchen and dining area occupy the middle floor with electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer for self-catering. Three bedrooms sleep six: a super kingsize with en-suite on the first floor, twin singles on the same level, and a third bedroom upstairs. A family bathroom with shower over the bath serves the other bedrooms. The integral garage downstairs houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, useful for rinsing off after beach days or wet-weather walks.
Essentials including electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. There is parking for two cars on site and a small side garden. No smoking throughout. The property suits families or groups wanting access to the coast and village life without being in the thick of things.

First let me say something about Portscatho. It’s a very pretty old fishing village with a small centre, a shop, cafe, pub, club and Italian restaurant. There is a harbour wall and stunning views out down the coast. There is a good selection of places to eat but be prepared for the prices. It certainly is not cheap with a pizza being about £17. The shop if well stocked and great. I certainly didn’t realise how far from Truro it was to Portscatho. It’s a good half hour drive which became a real pain after a few days as everything we wanted to do was that direction or towards St Austell. The house itself is nice. It’s obviously quite old and needs a bit of TLC but nothing that should put you off. It’s daft little things like the light in the main bedroom being an old cold white low energy bulb. It takes ages to come on and then the room looks like a hospital ward. However all of the big things are good. Nice kitchen, nice bathroom / en-suite and lots of appliances such as a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The house is upside down with the main living area on the top floor which allows fabulous views from the large picture windows. There is also a small balcony with the same great views. Bed linen, towels, etc. are provided as are dishwashing tablets, dish cloths and washing up liquid which is a nice touch. So all in all 4 stars which could easily be one five with a few minor upgrades. Oh, just one thing, the wifi is really slow and keeps cutting out so don’t rely on it.
