Portmellon Fishermans Cottages - Corner Cottage

Photo: Mermaid & Corner Cottages

Corner Cottage occupies a former fisherman's cottage on the north side of Portmellon Cove, built directly into the coastal rocks. You enter at ground level into the living room, where a wood burner faces a smart TV, then move through to the kitchen and dining space. This is where the practical side happens: electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine sit ready. Upstairs are three bedrooms—two doubles and two singles—plus a bathroom with bath and shower attachment, and a separate shower room with heated towel rails in each.

The cottage sleeps six and is yours alone. Bed linen, towels, electricity, heating and Wi-Fi are included. A welcome pack arrives with you. The grounds offer a patio, seating areas and a barbecue, though these are shared with other properties on-site. There is a pub within a mile. Note that the cottage sits at the edge of the rocks with steps down through the grounds, so it's not suitable for children under eight. One pet is welcome. No smoking inside.

At high tide, you can swim directly from the rocks into the cove's deep, clear water. The location is uncompromising: you're staying in a working fishing village on the north Cornish coast, near Saint Austell.

Cold and damp! Key was not ready for us had to search for owner. No welcome pack no logs for fire were told to go 5 miles down road to find them. Lovely location not suitable for winter lets! We were very uncomfortable.

View is stunning. Right on the cliff edge. Corner cottage is clean, tidy and well equipped. The water pressure is weak and the heating needs supplementing in the colder months. Luckily we were there in a warmer patch. Short walk over the hill into Mevagissey. Stopping us possible outside to unload. Parking is down by the beach. Free on single yellows from October. We saw swimmers from the beach every morning and it's possible to climb down to the water from the property.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, 5 minute walk from mevagissey, 1 minute from the beach at port mellon. Amazing owner for the cottage and very welcoming 😊 the views from the balcony are the best I have seen here! We have stayed at mevagissey many times, but port mellon and this cottage are amazing, thank you!
