Portmellon Fishermans Cottages - Mermaid Cottage
Cornwall

Families and larger groups will find Mermaid Cottage suits them well—it sleeps six across two bedrooms, with a double and a pair of bunks, and has two bathrooms so no queuing in the mornings. The cottage is built into the rocks at Portmellon Cove, a working fishing village with views across the water to Chapel Point. You get the whole place to yourselves, and one well-behaved pet is welcome. Note that the cottage is not suitable for children under eight, due to its clifftop location and the steps in the grounds.
The layout spreads across three levels. The lower ground floor holds the kitchen and dining room, where an open fireplace takes centre stage above a table for six. You have everything needed to cook properly—oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer—plus a separate shower room. Upstairs, the living room has an electric wood-effect heater and smart TV. The two bedrooms are on the first floor. Outside, there's a patio with garden furniture and a barbecue (shared with other properties on-site), though parking is on the road. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included.
Portmellon has a pub within a mile, and the beach is directly below. The cottage is four steps up from the entrance, and there are ten steps in the grounds itself.
