The Stables

Photo: Vipul Patel

The Stables began life as a working stable building and retains that character while now functioning as a self-contained holiday home. Everything sits on a single level, arranged around a central living space. Three bedrooms accommodate six guests: one double and two twin rooms, all serviced by a bathroom with both bath and shower, plus a separate toilet. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer—and the living area has a television and DVD player for quieter evenings.

Outside, a lawned garden runs to the front with a patio, barbecue and garden furniture. An unfenced stream crosses the property, which matters if you're bringing young children. Parking for two cars is on site. You're in rolling countryside yet only 2 miles from Bodmin itself, a historic market town with shops, pubs and attractions including the old jail. The Eden Project lies within easy reach. From here, you can ride the Camel Trail by bike towards Padstow and Wadebridge, explore Bodmin Moor, visit Lanhydrock House, or drive to the north or south Cornish coasts—Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac and Polperro are all accessible for day trips. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. No smoking throughout.

Lovely cottage and a good location. Good sized rooms for us. All facilities were great and we are able to see Deer and a fox in the field opposite. Beaches are 15 to 30mins away. Eden project 20 mins away. Friendly chats with Fiona who provided us with information regarding local places to visit. Will be rebooking in the future.

Spotlessly clean. Really comfortable beds. Luxury bathroom. Everything catered for. Only downside was bottom oven did not heat and tumble dryer did not heat. (Wouldn't usually use on holiday anyway but weather was not great when we visited so socks and trouser legs got muddy hence did a load of washing bit couldn't hang out to dry). Really not a problem though. Still highly recommend. Lovely peaceful setting.
