Tor View Cottage Holidays - Dairy Cottage

Photo: Tor View Cottage Holidays

Dairy Cottage is a ground-floor property sleeping four in two bedrooms, surrounded by four acres of grounds that include a fishing lake and a shared hot tub. You get the whole place to yourself—no other guests staying in your bit—though some facilities like the laundry room and hot tub are used by other properties on the estate. There is a lake within the grounds. One car can park on site.

The layout is open plan: a combined living and dining space with a kitchen at one end, a double bedroom and twin room, and a bathroom with bath and shower. The kitchen has a gas oven and hob, dishwasher, and the essentials you need to cook. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included. A welcome pack arrives with you. Travel cots are available if you ask when you book. One dog or cat stays free.

This suits couples and families wanting space to spread out without the business of multiple floors. The moorland backdrop is genuine—you're in open country near Bodmin Moor, with scope for walking. The fishing lake and gardens give you reasons to stay put too. The area is designated for stargazing.

Last minute 4 night stay. Great host, beautiful location really peaceful. There’s a fishing lake at the bottom too! 30/40 mins drive to pretty much most beaches. Magical place. Would recommend!

So yes, the view is stunning. But the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. The sofa wasn't much better. Milk and a pack of biscuits is nice but there was no oil or pepper and the pans are all so scratched they're barely useable. Shower is amazing but it sets off the smoke alarm every time it's used. Hot tub was also amazing but I feel like it's a luxury when the basics are not taken care of. There were no checks to see how we were enjoying our stay. And when we did ask a question we were told that they weren't there so couldn't help.

A great place run by lovely, helpful people. The accommodation is well laid out with everything you need and priced very reasonably. It was lovely to arrive to find a little welcome of fresh milk and biscuits as well as a stock of tea, coffee, salt and pepper. Plenty of towels and a comfy sofa..rare in holiday lets where looks often beat comfort.
