Tor View Cottage Holidays - Hosta House

Photo: Tor View Cottage Holidays

Bodmin Moor dominates the landscape around Trebell Green, and Hosta House sits within that wild countryside with views across open ground towards a tor. This single-storey cottage is yours alone during your stay, set within four acres of grounds that are shared with other properties on the site. You get a bedroom with a double bed, a shower room, and an open-plan living space that combines the kitchen, dining and sitting areas, so everything flows naturally from room to room.

The kitchen is fully fitted for cooking proper meals. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. There's parking for one car and a front garden with furniture. The four-acre grounds contain a fishing lake, a shared hot tub (which sleeps four), and enough space to wander without feeling hemmed in. One well-behaved pet can stay free of charge. The cottage doesn't permit smoking. Children can attend, though there is a lake within the grounds that you'll want to be aware of.

Beyond the property, the Camel Trail runs nearby—a long, flat cycle route following an old railway line. The coastal towns of Padstow and Wadebridge are accessible by bike or car. At night, the location offers genuinely dark skies.

Last minute 4 night stay. Great host, beautiful location really peaceful. There’s a fishing lake at the bottom too! 30/40 mins drive to pretty much most beaches. Magical place. Would recommend!

So yes, the view is stunning. But the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. The sofa wasn't much better. Milk and a pack of biscuits is nice but there was no oil or pepper and the pans are all so scratched they're barely useable. Shower is amazing but it sets off the smoke alarm every time it's used. Hot tub was also amazing but I feel like it's a luxury when the basics are not taken care of. There were no checks to see how we were enjoying our stay. And when we did ask a question we were told that they weren't there so couldn't help.

A great place run by lovely, helpful people. The accommodation is well laid out with everything you need and priced very reasonably. It was lovely to arrive to find a little welcome of fresh milk and biscuits as well as a stock of tea, coffee, salt and pepper. Plenty of towels and a comfy sofa..rare in holiday lets where looks often beat comfort.
