About Royal Court Hotel & Spa Coventry

With golf and fishing within reach and a choice of nearby pubs and restaurants, the Royal Court Hotel & Spa Coventry makes a practical base for exploring the West Midlands without needing a car for every outing, though free on-site parking is available for those who do drive. The hotel sits on Tamworth Road and has entertainment nearby too, giving guests options beyond the property itself.

There are 210 rooms across three floors, all en-suite, with family and accessible options, room service, free WiFi and a kitchen for guests who want more flexibility. Some rooms show their age and could do with updating, so those wanting brand-new fittings should temper expectations, but the price range from £35 to £220 reflects that variety.

On site there's a restaurant and bar, buffet breakfast, an indoor swimming pool, gym, spa and sauna, plus a garden and picnic area for warmer days. Meeting rooms and business services suit those travelling for work, and pets are welcome. Staff are consistently described as helpful, and the buffet food is a highlight worth mentioning on arrival.

Words truly can't describe how grateful my husband and I are to the Royal Court Hotel for making our dream wedding a reality. A special thank you has to go to our incredible wedding coordinator, Stacey. From the day we booked right through to the very end of our wedding day, she went above and beyond. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and her kindness, professionalism and attention to detail made the whole planning process completely stress-free. We honestly can't thank you enough, Stacey. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly, professional and so attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, the rooms were perfect, and the venue itself was simply stunning. Everything exceeded our expectations and made our day even more special. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for bringing our vision to life and giving us memories we'll cherish forever. Love, The new Mr & Mrs Burgess❤️ **11.07.2026**

I stayed here for five nights. In terms of value for money, it is okay and you get what you pay for. The hotel is somewhat difficult to reach without a car or bicycle, or otherwise requires a bit of walking. My room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and a decent bathroom. There was a fridge in the room and a fan, which was very nice in August. The hotel itself is good, but in some areas (hallways, toilets, elevators) it feels somewhat dated. Breakfast and dinner are very simple, with little choice and not of high quality, but it wasn't bad either. The swimming pool was very disappointing. The changing room has no private cubicles, so you have to change in a large shared space, which is unpleasant if you value privacy. Hygiene there was also far from good. Despite clear rules, people were still shaving there, and overall it is a very outdated changing area that looks like it isn't cleaned every day. The pool is small and at times too crowded when too many people are allowed in, which causes discomfort and makes proper swimming difficult. The pool area is also in strong need of renovation and no lifeguards were present the days i used it. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially in the bar, restaurant, and at reception. They provided good assistance. For a few days or a conference, this is a good place.

If you want budget-friendly, this is the hotel to be at. Don't expect anything royal—you get what you pay for. We stayed as a family of 4 plus a dog. On arrival, there is a £50 refundable deposit and a £10 fee per stay for the dog. They refunded the deposit immediately upon checkout, though we had to ask for it. Pros: Room & Beds: Good-sized room where everyone had a proper bed, not a sofa bed. TV: Big TV with good picture quality (great for our Saturday movie night). Grounds & Parking: Lovely big garden to sit in. Free, large parking lot for guests (just remember to register at check-in). Amenities: Bathroom amenities provided, with more available at reception. Pool Changing Rooms: Recently renovated and look lovely, though not ready for use yet. We had to use makeshift changing rooms in bedrooms across the lobby, which was awkward when crossing wet. Nearby Park: Lovely park opposite the hotel with trails, a playground, a football pitch, an orchard, and spots for picnics, dog walks, and runs. Cons: "Dog-Friendly" Restrictions: Dog friendliness ends at the restaurant and bar. Rules state dogs must be muzzled in public areas (nobody does this, as you only find out upon arrival) and cannot be left alone in rooms or taken into the bar/restaurant. You can eat with them in the garden, though you get weird looks bringing buffet food outside. Staff Recognition: Staff don't remember faces; they ask for your room number every time you revisit the buffet. Mediocre Breakfast: Instant coffee, instant scrambled eggs sitting in water, hard fried eggs, baked beans, fried toast, hash browns, heated tinned tomatoes, tinned peaches/prunes, thawed summer fruits with yogurt, 4 cereals (no dairy-free), fruits, juices from concentrate, and toast/spreads (plus croissants/pain au chocolat on Sundays). Java Lounge & Spa: Proper coffee is sold at the Java Lounge, but like the pool and gym, it doesn't open until 9:00 AM on weekends. Pool Rules & Fees: Pool costs £4/day per adult and £2/child. Families are restricted to 1 lane regardless of crowd size, and kids aren't allowed to lane swim even if the lane is empty. Housekeeping: Rooms aren't cleaned automatically to "save water" (you must request it). Dated Rooms: Soft mattresses, high/firm pillows, missing toilet roll holder part, broken bathroom mirror light, no toilet brush, rusty screw heads on bathroom fixtures, and no bedside reading lamps (only main wall lights). Outside Food: Officially banned, though rooms do include a fridge. Outdoor Maintenance: Tables and grass aren't cleaned. Tables were sticky, and there were leftover glasses and cigarette butts on the ground all weekend. Additional Notes: Tour Groups: Popular with senior weekend travel groups. Breakfast is busy between 8:00–9:00 AM before they depart at 9:30 AM (you may need to ask staff to replenish items like toast). Location: Great location—close to Coventry for city exploring and near the countryside for nice pub garden dinners.

We have just returned home after a 2 night stay at royal court where we met up with another couple (relatives) for a short break. Having read the very mixed reviews- we were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. The reception, bar and dining rooms are stunning. The outlook over the garden is very pretty. Our rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and modern. We hadn’t realised it was the Crufts dog show weekend and there were lots of competitors with their dogs staying at the hotel. This caused no problems for us at all. ( we are not doggy or pet people ) the staff were efficient and friendly, the food was very nice and plentiful, the atmosphere in dining room for evening meal and for breakfast was relaxed. I did hear one person say they felt their food wasn’t hot enough for them- but we didn’t find that - so makes me wonder if they took so long fetching their drink etc after their food that it cooled on table. Our food was hot and it was under heat lamps on the servery where you largely help yourself. The free WiFi was good and in all the rooms. Staff were happy to give more coffee etc from reception if needed. So all in all great value and service especially for the price. We Would definitely go again. Despite being busy it never felt crowded or rushed.
