About Glassenbury Camping

Glassenbury Camping occupies a dreamy south-facing meadow on a 12-acre Kent farm in the High Weald National Landscape, where sunset views over the surrounding countryside can be genuinely spectacular. This peaceful, off-grid site keeps things simple and eco-friendly – think compost toilets, a natural urinal, hot showers and a communal double-decker bus that adds a quirky focal point. Guests consistently praise the well-maintained facilities, friendly hosts and tranquil atmosphere, though the complete lack of electricity means you'll need to plan accordingly.

Fire pits are free to use, there's ample space for kids to roam, and the whole setup is designed for quiet relaxation rather than late-night gatherings. A bridleway north of the farm joins the Three Castles Walk, while woodland paths lead to Cranbrook village in half an hour on foot – handy for pubs, cafés and supplies. It's prime walking and cycling territory, and the High Weald setting delivers on wildlife and scenery without fuss.

Had a lovely evening at Glassenbury Camping and really enjoyed ourselves. It has everything you need and more, while still feeling peaceful, quiet, and close to nature. The sunset was absolutely beautiful, and the whole place had such a calm, relaxing feel. I can’t recommend it enough if you enjoy camping that is simple, peaceful, and not too wild, but still properly back to nature. We really, really enjoyed our stay. A big thank you to Raf for making everything so easy.

Booking was easy and reasonably priced, and having more than one tent was not an issue. Communication was excellent, with very clear directions, helpful signage, and friendly hosts who clearly care deeply about what they do. The site was spacious, relaxed, and clean, with beautiful countryside views and access to Angley Wood across the road. Cars are kept out of the field; the car park is adjacent, and wheelbarrows are available to help move gear. It is worth walking the field before choosing a pitch, as some areas are fairly level while others are on a steep slope. Facilities included drinking water, compost toilets, outdoor urinals, safari bucket showers, hot showers, a tooth-brushing area, and a washing-up area. Overall, this is an excellent site. I could only stay one night on this visit, but I would happily return for a longer stay in the near future. Well done Maria and Raf! Hope to see you again soon.

Great campsite. This suited my needs perfectly, I found it spot on. Organised with everything I needed . This may not suit all , as the toilets are natural/ compost ones with no flush. But this did not bother me. It's a nature sort of campsite with amazing views and peace , but it still has what you need such as washing up sinks. It gets the balance just right I found. Not too commercial and not too basic with no facilities. The owner was helpful as well when required. I definitely recommend this place

Such a great camping site, I can't recommend it enough. Lovely place, super eco-friendly, you get amazing sunsets (who needs Ibiza?), friendly staff, huge space for your tent, free fire pits to use (I had my own but it's a great extra service). The compost toilets are a lovely idea too, and it's just one hour from London - well, south London at least. Will definitely be back.
