What guests say
Location is lovely with a fair golf course. But that is all that sells this location. Rooms are not worth £200, you will get much better rooms at a travel lodge with a much lower price. What let it down was the services they advertised. A sports bar that is "open late". Or shuts before 10pm is much more realistic. Food that from the outside looks good. But I ordered pizza, asked for the mushroom and bell pepper with vegan cheese, as on their menu states.

Dinner restaurant ordered the cheeseboard and a cold lager. Service staff politite enough but all three different cheeses were way way past their best condition only fit for the dustbin. The Brie was so rock hard it had curled up, the cheddar same, the blue cheese was edible but end part rock hard. Ate the Brie parts that were soft enough to eat with four mini cracker biscuits of the six biscuits. The majority of the Informed the server of the quality of the food he talked with chef, then brought a replacement slice of Brie and Cheddar on a separate plate which were fresh good cheese. The majority of the grapes on a vine were okay, but a couple were very clearly rotten. Did not replace inadequate cheese board meal with fresh board. No apologies at all, the thing was that I assumed that the cheese was the last pieces the kitchen had in stock, but as the chef replaced with fresh, then this was disappointing as they were clearly trying it on with me.

To be honest, where to even start. The price for the hotel was outrageous for 2 nights (£560 at least). So much so, my partner and I had to stay off sight at a campsite nearby just to enjoy in on the family weekend. The price would be acceptable if everything was incredible but as you can probably guess, it wasn’t. The cutlery and the restaurant was dirty. The staff were rude, unhelpful, and genuinely made us feel as though we were inconveniencing their day. We were told before staying that we had to choose off a set menu that would be around £28pp - when we went to pay our bill, it was £42pp!!! £85 total for poor quality food that you could only see on your plate if you had a magnifying glass! Everyone else in our party only got charged £28pp because they were staying. But, because we couldn’t afford to stay, we were charged for the privilege of eating in a restaurant that has ignorant staff and food to be desired! Overall, what a shambles! If you’re going to charge such ludicrous prices, you need to actually have decent service and everything should be clean. Do not recommend.

Odd there are so many positive reviews. We paid over 600 for two nights here, which is outrageous for what we discovered it to be. Dinners were supposed to be included, but you have to pay extra for some items on the menu - their signature dish the crab and the steak, and drinks paid separately. The only thing that would have made this price feasible would be something like an all you can eat buffet and open bar. Food very average. Waiter didn’t know how the crab is cooked. Surly skittish bartender, 80s furnishings and decor, generally shabby appearance. WiFi on and off. A pity, since lovely location, and other very good hotels in the area for half the price. Baffling.
