About Sea Marge Hotel
Sea Marge Hotel occupies a characterful Tudor-style building on Cromer's High Street, its gabled frontage giving the place a distinct sense of period charm rather than the anonymous look of a modern hotel. With 25 rooms, it's a manageable size that still runs to a lift, concierge services and a bar for evenings in.
Rooms are comfortable and many make the most of the coastal setting with sea views, and drinks can be brought straight to your room if you'd rather not head down to the bar. Breakfast is included, and the restaurant has a good reputation for its cooking and a wide beer selection, though some find the food pricier than expected. Free WiFi and luggage storage cover the practical side, and the hotel also hosts weddings for those after a coastal celebration venue.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and willing to help, which goes some way to explaining the loyalty the hotel attracts. Free on-site parking is a useful bonus in a town centre location, and pets are welcome too, making it a straightforward base for exploring Cromer and the surrounding Norfolk coast.

What guests say
Food in the restaurant was lovely. I had the roast sirloin with cauliflower cheese, braised red cabbage, tenderstem broccoli, roasted carrots, onion purée, roast potatoes and parsnip and a very large Yorkshire pudding and horseradish sauce and a red wine jus. Yum. My sister had roasted belly of pork with the smoothest mashed potato, and veg with apple sauce and a cider jus. My partner had crispy whitebait with homemade tartare sauce followed by Lobster Thermidor with rosemary fries and mixed salad. We were going to have dessert but after our mains we couldn’t manage it. Service was good though we did wait a bit for our mains but this was totally compensated for by the piping hot delicious food. Would definitely recommend it.

Had a lovely 2 nights stay. Very peaceful & relaxing. Gorgeous location. The grounds & hotel are beautiful. Food was very good. Staff were helpful & efficient. Definitely would go back. Just a shame, as coffee lovers, the lattes were dreadful!

What a shame! We were so looking forward to celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary last week at this gorgeous hotel but we were SO disappointed! When we booked in person we were asked if this was a special event and we explained. On arrival there was no greeting and no mention of our special day, just shown to our table. We enjoyed the delicious pan fried sea bass but the cheesecake was disappointing. We wanted to pay but first decided to have coffee in the garden so was asked to pay for our meal at the bar before taking our coffee outside. No breakdown just a total that we paid, even though we had no idea how much we were charged for the wine. We took our coffee outside to enjoy in the little gazebo but could not believe how horrid it tasted - worse than Nescafe! The bar waitress explained they don't have a machine with fresh beans - unheard of for a top class hotel!! A real shame hence only 2 stars overall. We will not return for supper, but perhaps afternoon tea that we have much enjoyed on many occasions.

Nice old hotel with spacious clean rooms. Lovely views of the sea but NO beach access as advertised - that path has been closed due to disrepair so it's about a 15 minute walk. Other than the view there's nothing else to make this a 4* hotel. Restaurant is awful. Took 60 minutes to get our main despite being one of only 4 tables. No-one came to ask if we wanted more drinks (we did) no-one came back to ask if everything was okay (it wasn't). Crab (from Colchester, not Cromer) was stringy and horrible, pizza was so overcooked it was impossible to cut the crust with a knife. Never known an expensive restaurant who couldn't cook pizza. We were never offered a dessert menu so we got up and left. When I paid I asked the waitress if she's just forgotton about us and she said "we're really busy"... there were 5 empty tables so lord knows what the service is like when it's full!
