Beck Cottage is a detached stone building beside a beck in the remote Ennerdale Valley, where the fells rise steeply around you and the nearest lake is just a mile away. The property sits within the Lake District National Park, surrounded by woodland and moorland, with a working stream running through the garden itself. This is genuinely isolated countryside—the kind of place where red squirrels visit the feeders and dark skies make the stars properly visible at night.
Inside, two bedrooms sleep up to six: one has a double and single bed, the other three singles. The main living space combines a sitting room, dining area and conservatory; a multi-fuel burner keeps things warm, and the kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher and microwave for actual cooking. Downstairs there is also a shower room and a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Bed linen and towels are provided, as is the fuel for the burner. Biomass heating and solar panels mean the essentials are covered without adding to your bill.
The garden comes with furniture and parking for two cars on site. An RSPB reserve lies within 12 miles, and the woodland and riverside walks start from your door. No smoking indoors. The property is not suitable for very young children, given the stream in the grounds.
