Maryport sits on the Solway Coast, where the tidal harbour opens onto the Firth and Scotland lies across the water. The town has a maritime heritage that runs deep—Roman museum, shipping history, working marina—and the promenade offers coastal walks with views stretching far. Harbour House, an 1800s shipping chandler's building, occupies the old harbour front itself, giving it a genuine sense of place among the boats and waterfront life.

The property sleeps six across three bedrooms on the upper floors, with a bathroom and separate shower room. The ground floor holds a living room and dining room (both with smart TVs and streaming), a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, and a separate toilet. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. Street parking is available nearby. No smoking throughout.

From here you can walk to pubs and the harbour within minutes, or venture further along the Solway Coast for longer walks. The Lake District's mountains lie 30 minutes inland. Families will find activities in the town—aquarium, climbing wall, go-kart track—while those interested in Roman archaeology or maritime history have museums within reach. Children's travel cots and high chairs are available on request.

Harbour House is simply divine! It’s perfectly placed for access across multiple picturesque locations in The Lake District and is in its own quiet little area. There’s plenty of space across multiple rooms, with amazing facilities and breathtaking views from the well cared for garden. The local pub is also only just a short walk away. This is a beautiful home with the dual character of rustic charm from the traditional beams in the lounge to the vaulted ceiling and bifold doors in the dining area. Both bathrooms are recently refitted, with the family bathroom offering a four piece suite and the most stunning bath for sharing. We would 100% stay again.

Stayed here for a week. Good accommodation. If we ever visit the area again we will certainly rebook. As it is self catering accommodation service star rating not relevant.

Lovely place to use as a base for the North Lakes! Handy for the M6 by Penrith and Penrith train station, giving ready access to Keswick and Derwent Water, and Ullswater. Cosy and well-appointed. The owners maintain and update the property regularly and if there are any issues are quick to respond.
