Low Floweryhirst Cottage

A truly beautiful cottage nestled in the Cumbrian countryside. Sam welcomed us and gave a thorough tour and explanation of the home and how everything worked. There was milk in the fridge, tea and coffee, a selection of sauces in the cupboards and the cutest little basket of eggs! Even some chocolate biscuits by the kettle! These are the little touches that certainly don't go unnoticed. From the bedding to the towels (including extra towels for the hot tub) and the dressing gowns, everything was freshly done. The cottage was clean, well equipped and cosy. The hot tub was amazing, well maintained and clean. The shower area was a bonus and easy to clean up after use. The cottage was as cosy or cool as we wanted it to be. The log burner was filled and ready to go, the attic style bedroom was airy and light. Thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here and look forward to booking again. Highly recommend.

Absolutely perfect retreat for a few days... we just wished we'd decided on one more day! Everything was here that we could possibly want. Big bedroom, comfortable sitting room with log burner, pretty little covered courtyard for warm evenings and a terrace with a view in the garden. We weren't expecting the hot tub when we booked and it was a real treat for us. There's a fully stocked kitchen with hot plates and combi microwave/oven/grill which was ideal for us. The area itself is just beautiful. The Crossings Inn pub is 10 minutes' walk with some exceptional food and great staff. There are so many local attractions within a half hour drive. We particularly liked the walk along Hadrian's Wall from Housesteads to Sycamore Gap and the Twice Brewed Inn on the way back for local beer supplies. Sam and Tony are such friendly, approachable hosts and we spoke to them every day we were there and received great advice on where to go. We didn't need much help while we were there but knew they were on hand if ever we needed them. Nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated their hospitality. They obviously really care about making sure their guests get the most out of their time there. The chickens, pigs, calves and birds added to the atmosphere of this beautifully quiet, scenic location. Sitting in the courtyard at night with a drink in hand and nothing but a hooting owl to disturb us was just bliss. We are already looking at dates for our return visit.

Fantastic little place. Just right for a quiet getaway. Friendly pub is ten minutes walk if you fancy real ales and good cooking. The owners of the cottage couldn't do more to make us welcome.
