Walking trails fan out from The Barn into countryside ideal for exploring on foot or by bike. The Lake District lies within reach, as do Talkin Tarn, Walltown Cragg and Lanercost Priory. Golf and fishing are available locally, and the area hosts county shows and farmers' markets throughout the year. Shops and pubs are about 2½ miles away. The grounds themselves—2 acres sloping down to a beck with waterfalls—hold their own appeal: deer, squirrels and birds move through regularly, and there are sitting areas to watch them from.
This former mill barn has been converted into a contemporary home sleeping 4 across two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each bedroom has a king bed, TV and DVD player; the ground floor bedroom opens to the garden via French doors, as does the first floor living space to a patio. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking—electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer included—and flows into a dining area and separate lounge. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are provided. There is bike storage and parking on site, plus an electric car charging point available at cost.
The barn sits beside the owner's home. The grounds have open stairs and sloping banks near the water, so families with very young children may want to consider this. Smoking is not permitted inside.
