About Holiday Inn Darlington A1 Scotch Corner
Right at the junction of the A1 and A66, Holiday Inn Darlington A1 Scotch Corner is built for travellers who want an easy stop with proper facilities rather than a basic roadside room. The hotel has 91 rooms across three floors, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and drinks in the room, with family rooms and accessible rooms also available.
There's a restaurant on site along with a bar, room service and kids meals for those not wanting to venture out, plus packed lunches for guests heading on somewhere else. Facilities stretch beyond the usual hotel offer to include an indoor swimming pool, gym, spa and sauna, and meeting rooms for business visitors. Breakfast is served, and laundry and luggage storage are available for longer stays or overnight breaks alike.
Free on-site parking and an electric vehicle charge point make it a practical base for driving around County Durham, and a golf course, pubs and other restaurants are all nearby. It's a straightforward, well-equipped option for anyone travelling the A1 corridor rather than a destination in its own right.
Guests consistently praise this hotel for its friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, and amenities including a pool and steam room. They also appreciate the good value and the convenience of electric car charging.
Some reviews mention the rooms can be poorly maintained.
