About Hellidon Lakes Golf & Spa Hotel - QHotels

Hellidon Lakes Golf & Spa Hotel makes a good base for exploring the Northamptonshire countryside around Daventry, though many guests never need to leave the grounds. The on-site golf course is the main draw, set among the hotel's lakes, and there's a bowling alley for evenings when the weather turns.

The hotel has 110 rooms, generally spacious, though some have been reported as needing better upkeep, so it's worth being clear-eyed about that when you book. Facilities extend to a restaurant, bar and snack bar, free WiFi throughout, and a gym alongside the spa, which includes a hydro pool, steam room and sauna as well as an indoor swimming pool. Breakfast is served on-site and drinks can be brought to your room.

Beyond the golf and spa, there's a garden to wander, a lift for ease of access, and concierge and laundry services if you need them. The hotel also hosts weddings and offers free on-site parking, plus an electric vehicle charge point for those arriving by car. It suits a stay built around relaxing rather than sightseeing.

The Spa was very impressive, 10/10 for that part... The service here needs improvement if I'm honest. No visible vegan options on any of the menus. When my meal came, it was missing the 2 sides stated on the menu. That being said, portion sizes were good and tasty! When my mum ordered a flat white, there were loads of coffee grounds in it and it tasted really bad. The lady was polite though and remade it. No one answers any phones in the hotel. We booked having read that there is "24/7 room service" but finally got through to someone at 10pm who said there is no chef (it still says 24/7 on the website btw) so false advertising... We also let them know with good notice that I'd checking out at 5:30am - they agreed to arrange a takeaway vegan breakfast as this was included in the price. For breakfast, they offered me a non-vegan yogurt, an old banana & a fizzy drink... While the staff were not rude, the service that they provided lacked luxury which is a shame because the setting and spa gives the place potential to be of a high standard. May be that the management is slacking rather than individual staff, who knows.

Had a last minute 2 night stay with 2 rounds of golf. It was very nice hotel for the most part. The carpets need to be replaced throughout as there is alot of stains from radiators. The staff were very friendly and welcoming especially karen on the evening meal and vicky on the breakfast. They were both bubbly and very helpful. The food was exquisite 👌 very tasty, the vanilla cheese cake was the best ive ever had. The spa area is great with alot of different types of sauna rooms. The bowling was okay with it being strings it got tangled and then messed with the game and the scoring system wasnt the best and the 10th pin always came down randomly like a ghost pin and wasnt seen on the game sheet if knocked down again. The view from my room was amazing and a great thing to wake up to. The golf course is as best as you could get in a dry period the greens were watered but the course was hard and ran. The course was very difficult so a good challenge. But they need to plan tee times better and not put so many big groups on the same days the first day had at least a 10 min wait before you could tee off on each hole. The tee times either need to have a bigger gap or not fill it with groups that take the time to tee off. But all in all for the price its great value for 2 nights 2 rounds

Absolutely fantastic! We loved our mini Spa break, first time at this wonderful place. Gorgeous location, lovely room with delightful views, amazing treatment the ‘total relax’, But the best part was the staff, every single one of them so welcoming and friendly. Big shout out to Karen and Olivia, served us in the restaurant this evening, that is how it’s done! So professional and friendly, excellent at their jobs and a massive asset to the place, we will definitely be back

Waiting staff Jaqs, Ellie and the breakfast host man (apologies for lack of name), the girl at the leisure complex (apologies again) and Marion on the desk were all so welcoming and helpful. The rooms were spotless and the food was fresh. I am sometimes reluctant to get salmon as it can be overcooked, but the meal was tasty, perfectly cooked and well prepared. A walk this morning around the golf course after breakfast and out early morning dip in the lovely pool and visit to the sauna. No golfing for us but a very enjoyable stay.
