About Premier Inn Derby South
Premier Inn Derby South starts the day with a proper cooked breakfast, vegetarian options included, and keeps a restaurant and bar on site for evening meals and drinks. It's a straightforward base for anyone who doesn't want to hunt for food after a long drive or a day of meetings.
The hotel has 51 rooms across two floors, all en-suite, with accessible rooms available and drinks available in-room. Beds are comfortable and rooms generally clean and spacious, though a few have been reported as a little tired in places. Free Wi-Fi, 24 hour reception and an electric vehicle charge point round out the practical side, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful.
Set at Foresters Leisure Park just off the A5111, the hotel is well placed for Derby city centre and the Rolls-Royce site, making it a sensible pick for business visits as well as short breaks. Free on-site parking is provided, and golf, fishing, horse riding and nearby pubs and restaurants give options for downtime.
What guests say
I had a really pleasant stay at Premier Inn Derby West. The room was very nice, clean, and well maintained, which made the stay comfortable from start to finish. Everything was tidy on arrival and housekeeping clearly keeps the rooms to a high standard. The reception staff truly stood out, especially Emma and Irina. From the moment I arrived, they were friendly, welcoming, and professional. Every time I walked past reception, they made the effort to check in and ask if I was okay, which made the experience feel personal and genuinely caring rather than just routine customer service.

No air con is crazy! We were told they've never had it because it was a small hotel but even after it was expanded and it's being renovated, still no air conditioning in the plans! The staff could really do with it too. Just for the record, we were made aware they didn't have it but due to the location and our commitments, it would have been difficult to be based at another hotel. The rooms are far too hot and the fans they provide blow out god knows how old dust. Would hate to stay here when the temps are 30c+!

Pathetic service! We couldn't take a shower for 2 days! The water wasn't going down the drain properly and I asked to get it sorted but no action was taken. I still can't believe it! The rooms were spacious and had the normal necessities otherwise. The location was good, with a Lidl round the corner and Alton Towers 45 mins away by car.

Hotel was clean, room was tidy with no real issues. One usb socket seemed to be running at low power but everything else was fine. Was offered to make dinner/breakfast reservations on check in - I didn't need to but it was nice to be offered. Walls are possibly a bit thin, could hear television in the next room. Luckily it wasn't playing until unreasonable o'clock so that wasn't a problem for me. But something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper and get unlucky with your neighbouring guest/s. First time staying in a Premier Inn and was more than satisfied with the stay. I'd book it again.
