Stenson Hill Farm sits on working farmland in South Derbyshire, surrounded by open countryside yet within reach of pubs and village amenities. The detached property is yours alone, with space for 20 guests across 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. Bedrooms range from singles through to a kingsize, with three offering en-suite showers. One pet is welcome, kept on a lead.

The ground floor centres on a kitchen with two cookers, two fridges and a dishwasher, leading into a conservatory used as the dining area. There is a separate living room with woodburner, a games room housing a snooker table and pool table, and a lawned garden with patio. Parking for 20 cars sits on site. Bed linen is provided; heating and utilities are included. No smoking throughout.

The location suits large family gatherings or group holidays. Derby's theatres and restaurants lie 15 minutes' drive away, while Ashbourne, Dovedale, Matlock Bath and Alton Towers are all within an hour. A pond occupies part of the garden, which guests should be aware of.

We stayed here for a weekend, Friday to Monday. The house is nice, from the outside, and there's an abundance of outside space. However. The patio furniture is dangerous, with the bench practically falling apart when sat on. The BBQ is filthy. There was litter all over the garden, including broken glass and dirty underwear. The conservatory, kitchen and main lounge are full of ants, to the extent that within 5 minutes of putting a glass down, it will be full of insects. The downstairs was full of flies. Most of the utensils, cutlery, pans, cups, glasses and bowls were dirty. The utensil drawer also had loose knives in, which are a hazard. The vacuum cleaner is useless, and has a dangerous power cord. The beds are rock hard. The paid-for towels need replacing. The parking appears to be a free-for-all, with other people on-site parking in the area designated for this property. The patio and front door locks are barely usable, so don't leave anything expensive in the property when you're out for the day. The drain for the kitchen sink floods the outside. The shower in the en-suite at the back has no light, and a dark shower curtain, so you're basically showering in the dark. You can't walk anywhere upstairs without the floors creaking (period charm?). Oh, and the wifi is basically useless. If you want to stream anything on the TV (only 1 TV remote has batteries, and none of them have a back cover), you'll need to hotspot to your phone. It really needs a good clean, new table wear and some organisation. It has a lot of potential, and could have been fantastic, but the niggly things get to be very annoying, especially the dirty kitchenware, flies and relentless ants. I'm glad we were only here for the weekend.

Our entire family spent our weekend at this wonderful place and it was everything we needed to chill out and relax and I truly do recommend that you stay here. Everything was perfect, the games room, the kitchen is ample and the views are stunning but I have to give only 4 stars as the onsuite bathrooms need a little TLC as there was mould around silicone and the toilets didn’t flush appropriately if you catch my meaning and so of the family opted to use the communal bathroom to shower which is very clean and up to date. I hope the owners do take notice and just make those changes and then it would be perfect.

Great place to meet up with family. Lots of rooms and beds, although the mattresses were on the rather firm side. The en suite shower in the room we had wasn't working however there was one just over the hall that we used. There's a fabulously large kitchen/diner which was very well equipped. All in all we had a great few days. The grounds and surrounding countryside was amazing. A definite I would say for a return visit.

What a fantastic place the house was perfect for a big family gathering. Eight bedrooms one downstairs some with ensuite bathrooms. Big kitchen and living area. With a lovely conservatory.
