Haddon Cottage is a converted farm building with deep roots—set within Burton Manor Farm, a working dairy operation in the Peak District countryside just outside Bakewell. The cottage itself is modest but complete: two bedrooms (one with twin single beds, one with a double), a shower room, and downstairs living spaces that include a kitchen with gas and electric cooking. Essentials like heating, linen, towels and wifi are covered, and there's a welcome pack on arrival.
The farm setting means genuine rural character rather than chocolate-box aesthetics. You get off-road parking, use of a games room with table tennis (shared with other properties on site), and a rear garden with seating area where you can take in the working farm around you. One dog stays free. No smoking inside. Bakewell is a short walk away, with the River Derwent running through the centre. From here you're positioned for Peak District exploration: Monsal Head trail is close by, Chatsworth House a short drive, and Tissington trail within reach.
The farm sits among walking country, with plenty of trails starting from your doorstep. Local pubs in nearby Monyash serve home-cooked food and regional ales. This works well for families or small groups wanting accessible countryside without isolation, and for anyone wanting to stay somewhere that's actually part of working farm life rather than merely overlooking it.

Baby goats and lams near by. My room had a good view. The farm smell is quiet strong outside, if that's not a problem for you then it's a good place to stay. Its very peaceful and quiet. No signal for O2 also very bad wifi

Had a lovely week with friends in the Wragg suite, comfortable cottage with good amenities. Very dog friendly & Kym & husband (& children) very welcoming & helpful. WiFi temperamental & limited information available in cottage but we figured things out - may benefit from an information booklet. Would be very happy to return & hope to do so, beautiful part of the country - thank you for a lovely stay.

Excellent in every aspect. We stayed in Monsal Cottage which was immaculate and very comfortable. Meticulous thought has gone into the Cottage with everything spotless and clean. Burton Manor Farm is a working Dairy Farm and is also clean and well maintained. It's a total delight to stay there and we are looking forward to making the trip down from Scotland to meet up with Kym, Chris and wee Walter again. A lovely hard working Family who made us feel very welcomed. See you again, Kym, Chris and Walter. X

I was traveling with my mum and booked this cottage last minute, Kym responded quickly and gave us all of the information how to get there and check in. Cottage is located on a working farm, surrounded by amazing views as it is on top of the hill. The views were amazing. When we arrived we were greeted by free roaming goats, also there were 2 lamas in a fenced up area. We could hear cows as well. Accommodation was very clean and cosy, kitchen very well equipped, very nice shower, beds were comfortable, dining/living room had table with chairs and 2 comfortable sofas. The cottage has very nice vibes. Small decorations made it feel very cosy. We stayed for a few days and it was perfect. Located very close to Bakewell, which is right in the middle of the Peak District, which makes easy to travel to any location from there. only 30min to Dovedale, or 30 min to get to Castleton. Kym was very helpful. Check in was very simple. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.
