Greenhills Holiday Park

Crowhill Ln, Bakewell DE45 1PX, UK

33-acre touring and camping park a short walk from Bakewell town centre

About Greenhills Holiday Park

Greenhills Holiday Park spreads across 33 acres of the lower Wye Valley on Bakewell's edge, close enough to walk into town for the Monday market yet screened by mixed woodland that gives every pitch genuine countryside feel. Hardstanding areas accommodate caravans and motorhomes, while separate grass fields are kept for tents, all with 16-amp electric hook-up as standard. The licensed Stable Bar clubhouse means you can eat and drink on site without driving, and there's a playground for younger children. Dogs are welcome throughout.

Most campers appreciate the practicality of the location—Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are a short drive, the Monsal Trail is easily reached, and Bakewell's shops and pubs are near enough that you can leave the car once pitched. Some visitors mention the site can feel a little tired in places, but the space, convenience and access to the central Peak District keep it popular with touring families and walkers using the surrounding lanes and footpaths.

Just spent 3 nights on the site, never stayed before. Overall the site was ok. However, the shower block(new block) was not very clean especially the toilets and the shower I used need a good clean. Also for 3 nights it was an extra £24 because we had 2 small dogs. I queried this cost and was told it was because dog owners did not pick up there dogs mess which to me was not a good enough answer as during our stay there was lots of mess and he said they have more dogs than children ? I think they do this to get more money because the area has lots of walkers and great if you have dogs.

Great site, very well maintained, clean toilets and showers, allocated pitches, electric hook-up available. Dog walking area, children's play area, games room, small shop for essentials, food trucks in the evenings at weekends and a very nice bar on site, with a large outdoor seating area. Very quiet at night and just a 25 minute walk into Bakewell. Not the cheapest site, but definitely one of the best.

This was our second visit in 2.5 yers. It is a fantastic site. Great location for walking into Bakewell and doing some of the Monsal Trail, as well as visiting Thornbridge Brewery tap room. The site has a lovely little bar serving a couple of local beers, as well as a good range of other drinks. The toilets and showers are superb, and kept as clean as is possible when dealing with customers with muddy shoes. We'll definitely be back again.

Barn Star

We were here during the first week of June. On the plus side. The location is perfect for exploring the Peak District. We recommend a visit to The Thornbridge Estate just around the corner, and we also found the local town of Matlock to our liking. If you like a good walk, then you may also enjoy the Monsal trail. The staff on site were also polite and helpful. Now for the negatives. A regular told me that since they were last there they have increased the number of pitches, which they felt made the place feel a bit cramped. Our biggest complaint however was that the bar (which had been one of the biggest selling points to us) was closed Monday to Wednesday. This is the most expensive tent camping site we have stayed at so far, but thought having the bar was a real benefit. So we felt cheated not having somewhere to socialise on site of an evening (especially when it was raining.) The website makes no reference to the bar only being open on certain days, so we won't be returning again as we felt they were being disingenuous.
