Dove Cottage is a mid-1800s terrace cottage in Rowsley, built originally to house railway workers. The village sits between Bakewell and Matlock, within striking distance of the Peak District's major attractions—Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are two miles away, and the Derwent Valley Heritage Trail runs through the village itself. The cottage is yours alone: two bedrooms (one kingsize, one with two singles), one bathroom, and a living space with an open fire. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with an initial supply of fuel for the fire.
The kitchen is fully fitted for self-catering, with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave and washing machine. Outside, there's an enclosed front garden and a courtyard with patio seating. You have parking for two cars on site, and a bike store for exploring the surrounding paths. One dog can stay free; there's no smoking inside the cottage.
Rowsley itself has a village shop, post office and a couple of pubs within easy walking distance. Cycling and fishing are available locally, and in summer steam trains run to Matlock. The cottage suits families and couples wanting to walk or cycle through the dales, with Crich Tramway Village, Manifold Valley and Castleton all within reach for day trips.
