Matlock sits on the edge of the Peak District, close enough to Matlock Bath's riverside attractions yet surrounded by walking country. The South Carolina Farm House is a stone-built property that gives you the whole place to yourself, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms spread across two floors. It sleeps seven and welcomes one pet.
Inside, the ground floor centres on a large open-plan living, dining and kitchen space with a wood burner, comfortable seating and a smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking—range cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer included—with an island for informal eating. Downstairs also has a shower room and separate toilet. Upstairs, you'll find two bedrooms with king beds and one with a double and single, plus a family bathroom with a free-standing bath and shower over it. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are all included, and initial fuel for the wood burner is supplied. There's parking on site and a patio with garden furniture outside. The location suits walkers and cyclists equally—direct access to country trails, including the route to Lumsdale Falls, and off-road cycling tracks nearby. Matlock Bath's attractions and restaurants are within reach. Smoking is not permitted in the property.

Stunning cottage that catered for every need. Great position just outside Tansley. Very high specification fittings and so comfortable for all. Very responsive, friendly owner. Honestly, this was a great stay and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Hope to return at some point in the future and will highly recommend.

Such a lovely place. Comfy beds, welcoming and cosy decor and a fully equipped kitchen. A great base to explore the Peak District, relax and switch off from the world. We’ve had the best time. Thanks very much for providing such a nice place to have a family holiday.

Stayed here for christmas 2025 and had the most wonderful time. The cottage is absolutely stunning, perfectly decorated and feels homely and cosy. 15 minute walk to the nearest pub and 10 minute drive into matlock with the rest of the Peak District within travelling distance. we had the best relaxing Christmas, and the kitchen was fully equipped to do an outstanding christmas dinner ( if I do say so my self ). The owners were warm and welcoming from the minute we arrived to the minute we left . Loved it so much we've booked again. xx

Absolutely beautiful lodge and location! Not to far from Matlock town and Matlock bath, we had such a great time and the hosts are super friendly and helpful! We will definitely come to stay again, the lodge itself is gorgeous and on arrival we found it to be extremely clean and welcoming, it is also well equipped! If you are thinking of paying for the hot tub then definitely do so, it’s 100% worth it. The rain didn’t stop us either, was such a great few days away! Thankyou Ramblers Retreat, untill we stay again x
