Thistledown Cottage is a limestone mid-terraced house with the character of its age still visible—exposed stone walls and ceiling beams run through the property. The ground floor is open-plan, centred on a kitchen where you can cook proper meals, with a wood burner set into the original fireplace for winter stays. A timber conservatory extends into the back, bringing in light and views across the countryside. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed, one with a double. The single bathroom has a walk-in shower.
The village of Great Longstone itself is quiet, with a shop, a dairy and a couple of pubs that welcome dogs. Bakewell—the market town with its farmers markets, restaurants and independent shops—is about ten minutes away by car. The Monsal Trail, an 8½-mile traffic-free route for walkers and cyclists, runs near the village edge. A small south-facing garden with sitting-out space sits to the front of the cottage, and there is parking for one car on site. Essentials including bed linen, towels, heating and wifi are covered; initial logs for the wood burner are provided. No smoking inside.
