Bagshaw Hall & Lodge

Apparently, this is a 2 star hotel due to old carpets etc but the help and friendliness of staff was excellent and so welcoming. Great location for bakewell with off road parking, if you don't mind a short steep walk to the village centre. I was impressed with the spotlessly clean bathroom (fan needs fixing btw) and nice toiletries. Bed was huge and comfy. Nice plentiful selection of coffee/tea and biscuits. Had a handy sink, microwave, fridge and a few kitchen crockery and cutlery items. Liked the lounge room with board games and cute garden area. Lovely dog friendly hotel! Will definitely come here again when we come back to Bakewell and will probably stay for a few days.

Arrived and was greeted at the door after telephoning the number requested on front door.Nice lady showed us to our room and asked if we had any questions. We stayed in the ' Manner' room right next to the entrance.The room was not what I had hoped for after looking at the website and seeing the beautiful rooms with the free standing baths large beds etc and after paying more than average price, I was disappointed.The bedroom area was clean and the bed comfortable.The bathroom was also clean and we did have a bath however was not able to run the hot water because of the poor water pressure it just trickled out and I had to put the shower on to fill the bath .The kitchenette area was equipped for what we needed but the top of the cooker was not very clean at all , good job we had no intention of cooking.There was little evidence of any dusting being done and I could actually write my name in the dust on the hearth underneath the standing fire .We had a major issue with the noise from the boiler especially at night when settled down .The loud banging and vibration noise was not good .The boiler was actually in the lounge area .

We stayed for 2 nights in the Attico room. Ths room is not good for anyone with mobility issues. You go into the entrance and there is a small kitchen area. You go up a narrow staircase to where the bedroom and open plan bathroom are located. You turn right to the bedroom where you are met with a large beam on the floor. To save you having an accident, there was a child's stair gate at the top of the stairs. The kitchen crockery and cutlery didn't match. There were only 2 plates and 2 pasta bowls. There was a really dirty old washing up sponge, I wouldn't have used to clean a toilet. There was no care taken or attention to detail, we felt we felt we were making do. I feel partly responsible because I asked if we could have a room with a bath, hence being put in that room. But if we're told about the trip hazards we would have asked for another room, my partner is 75 years of age and it was very difficult for him, it certainly wasn't a nice relaxing break and not worth £350 for a two night stay. We have stayed in Bakewell dozens of times and this is the first time I have done a bad review

Fantastic stay in penthouse room, with most stunning views. Magic feel and ambience of the property and it's history. Oliver was amazing host, sharing the history of his family home and recommending beautiful places to visit in Bakewell. We will definitely be back and recommend the place to all our friends.
